About This Game

Larina is a single-player turn-based fantasy RPG built around character progression, dungeon exploration, and an enormous variety of loot.

Build your hero through different combat Souls, develop their skills and attributes, hunt for powerful equipment, and explore a world filled with dungeons, quests, dangerous bosses, and repeatable endgame challenges.

Build Your Hero

Change the way you fight by acquiring and developing different Souls, each with its own skills, weapons, mechanics, and play-style. Build around Strength, Dexterity, Intellect and Stamina. Hire a mercenary companion, and experiment with combinations of equipment and abilities to shape how your character fights!

Hunt for Better Gear

Defeat enemies and bosses to find a crazy variety of equipment. Items have a number of different rarities and affixes that can be found on them. Items can be crafted using materials, or modified using magical orbs.

Dungeon bosses have their own special equipment sets, giving you a reason to return for another run, while crafting systems let you modify, re-roll, enchant and synthesise equipment as your character grows.

(An example of a typical "Rare" rarity item. The blue text is the implicit stats of that particular item. This means that every "Gilded Ring" base item type will have some Strength and some Maximum Health increase.)

Explore Larina

Travel between towns, forests, temples, castles, caves, and other dangerous locations across the world. Dungeons contain battles, treasures, puzzles, environmental hazards, and bosses, with new areas becoming accessible as your hero grows stronger.

Towns provide places to rest, shop, store equipment, recruit mercenaries, accept quests, and make use of specialised crafting services.

Maps and Endgame Challenges

In your journey, Maps open the door to repeatable adventures with randomised layouts, enemies, events, and modifiers. Just like equipment, Maps also have a variety of affixes that can modify how the adventure will go. The more dangerous the modifiers, the more rewarding the loot becomes!

Hunt for special Unique Maps that completely change the rules, enter the Arena for escalating combat trials, or slay dungeon bosses to complete their dedicated equipment sets.

Core Mechanics/Lore

Larina is built from years of ideas gathered from the RPGs, dungeon crawlers and loot-driven games I grew up playing, combining turn-based combat with deep itemisation, character building, dungeon exploration, and repeatable endgame systems.

Larina also returns to the setting of my original 2019 game (Candera: the Forgotten Realm), re-imagining that world with a much larger focus on exploration, character progression and loot!
