Call the Right Stat

Choose one card from your hand, call POWER, SPEED, BRAINS, CHAOS, or CHARM, then reveal the panel. The higher value wins—but raw numbers are only the beginning. Your rival can choose from visible candidates, answer with a Counter Window, and use its own file-specific tactics before the result is inked.

Each match is a fast, four-panel duel. Win three panels first, file the issue, and move one step deeper into the city’s growing comic archive.

Special Features That Change the Panel

FIVE STAT FRENZY! is not a blind top-trumps contest. The game keeps every panel readable while adding a small set of high-impact decisions that create real counterplay.

• Open Rival Hands - Inspect the rival’s visible cards, values, strongest stat, and ability before choosing your own call.

• Rival Draft - The opponent compares two visible candidate cards and seals the stronger file with a +1 Draft bonus. You can see the choice coming, but must decide whether to play around it.

• Counter Windows - A rival can interrupt one narrow situation before REVEAL. Read the file, change your line, or take the risk.

• Crew Affinities - Put three matching crew cards in a deck to activate a shared identity and make your 12-card build matter from the first panel.

• Showcase Captains - Six cards from one crew can appoint a once-per-match captain with a dramatic recovery, tiebreak, or tempo swing.

• Special Prints - Later Issues add one optional event, spell, or superpower alongside the deck—one extra decision, not another pile of rules.

• Rival Signatures - Later files introduce readable twists such as CLOSING TIME, SIDEBAR SPLASH, and the boss’s MARGIN NOTE.

• Comic Rewards - Full-match wins file a serial comic page; first victories over rivals unlock exclusive four-page stories.

Every special system has a visible status, a limited timing window, and a clear way to respond. The result is a quick card duel with enough tactical friction to reward planning, adaptation, and a well-timed risk.

Build a 12-Card Crew

Create a legal 12-card deck from a growing collection of 72 hand-painted character cards spread across four Issues. Every crew has its own identity, affinities, showcase captains, values, and ability timing:

• Neon Nature - Flexible growth, movement, and unusual stat routes

• Retro Tech Riot - Information, precision pivots, and clever recovery

• Red Tape Rebellion - Rules twists, filed counters, and disruptive timing

• Capes & Calamities - Heroic swings, dramatic finishes, and bold value pressure

Mix crews for flexible answers or build around an Affinity to unlock a Showcase Captain. Every deck slot, deck name, and deck code is saved locally so your favourite line-ups are ready for the next issue.

Read Eight Rival Files

Paperlight City is full of opponents who do more than reveal a random card. Face eight Rival Files, each with a distinct strategy, visible hand, counterplay, and comic reward.

The Rival Draft lets opponents compare two open candidate cards before sealing their strongest choice. Counter Windows create a final moment of tension before REVEAL. Later rivals bring signature rules such as CLOSING TIME and SIDEBAR SPLASH, so the same deck cannot coast through every match.

File Comics as You Win

Victories unlock more than cards. Every full match can add another chapter to the Rooftop Chase comic print run, while first victories against rival files unlock exclusive four-page stories.

The archive makes the route clear: collect all twelve Rooftop Chase files, uncover rival stories, and keep pushing through new Issues as Paperlight City’s story expands.

Add One Special Print

Later Issues introduce one optional Special Print alongside your 12-card deck. A Special Print does not replace a character card and does not consume that card’s ability—it gives you one extra comic-book decision per match.

Every card, comic page, rival file, stamp, and rooftop is presented in hand-painted ink-and-watercolour comic art. Bold outlines, aged newsprint, physical paper layers, and punchy colour turn the match board into a Moonribbon Press comic spread.

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

During development, generative AI tools were used to assist with selected pre-generated visual content, including some card illustrations, comic imagery and marketing artwork. Each included illustration was deliberately selected, art-directed and integrated into FIVE STAT FRENZY!’s own comic-watercolour style, cast of characters, game rules and connected Paperlight City story.

The released game uses no generative AI at runtime. Players do not enter AI prompts, and the game does not generate new images, text, dialogue, music or gameplay content while it is being played. Card values, rules, deckbuilding, rivals, campaign progression and comic unlocks are fixed, tested game content.
