About This Demo

From first light to the first city.

The star is cold, the worlds are empty, and the only voice left is P.O.R.T.I.A., the caretaker who kept this system through a hundred thousand dark years. This demo is the beginning of the game. It does not end on a timer.

Choose the star's color and light it. Sweep falling stars out of the dark. Buy back Mercury, Venus and Earth, seed life in the first sea, and watch Earth turn from brown rock to a blue world with green continents. When the first star has given all it can, let it go: one Reignite, your worlds kept, the next star brighter.

Under the second star, Earth passes three billion people and lights come on along one dark coast. She asks you to name the city. The world begins a written record and prints its first paper. Then the first vote is put off a season, because nobody in the city has a family name yet, and she asks you a question only she can ask.

The demo ends after that question. Nothing is taken away: your worlds keep turning and the star burns for as long as you leave it. On this computer, your save carries into the full game, where the next star, Mars, the belt, the outer worlds and the rest of what she kept are waiting.
