Ce que l'équipe de développement a à dire :

Pourquoi choisir l'accès anticipé ?

« Estium is an MMORPG, which means the parts I cannot test alone are the parts that will matter to people most. All of our systems behave differently with a large group of people helping with feedback and development of them than it does with just a few of us, and I've taken this as far as a small test group can take it.

I've built Estium alone. Early Access lets me build the rest of it alongside the people who will actually play it, instead of guessing what people want to play for two years, only to find out later I guessed wrong. I want to build something the community wants to play, which means a lot of feedback as it grows. »

Pendant combien de temps environ ce jeu sera-t-il en accès anticipé ?

« I am planning on roughly two years, but definitely want to have a full release that I'm proud of.

I work on this alone, so my pace is steady rather than fast. Treat that estimate as my honest best estimate rather than a hard commitment. »

En quoi la version finale sera-t-elle différente de la version en accès anticipé ?

« The world will grow significantly from what it looks like today: more regions to travel to, more creatures and gear tiers to climb, and more settlements for players to govern. I want the full version to be a world deep enough that players feel as though they can set their own goals in it, and that the server develops its own history. »

Quel est l'état actuel de la version en accès anticipé ?

« Estium is fully playable end to end and tested with live players.

23 skills exist across gathering, refining, crafting, combat, and support.
110 creatures exist in the world, and over a hundred items to collect or craft.
Eight playable quests with branching paths.
Inventory, banking, player to player trading, mail, party, friends list, and duels are all supported.

The economy and politics systems are live - players can vote settlement leaders to handle local economics and bonuses, or draw a salary.

There is one player town hub with a surrounding region to adventure in, including underground dungeons and caverns.

Balance is early, so expect that to shift under your feet, some bugs, and things to change quickly. »

Le prix du jeu sera-t-il différent pendant et après l'accès anticipé ?

« We're not planning on changing the price when we leave early access. »

Comment comptez-vous impliquer la communauté dans le processus de développement ?

« There is a feedback and bug report button built into the game. It takes a screenshot, attaches it, and files the report straight into my issue tracker, so reporting something takes about ten seconds and lands where I actually work.

Beyond that I plan to run a Discord where I am reachable directly, to post about what I am working on while I am working on it, and to be open about what I am changing and why. Estium is small enough that a good suggestion can be in the game the same week.

The player run parts of the game make this less optional than usual. If elections, taxes and player shops are going to work, they have to be shaped by the people using them.

I run content surveys so that players get to voice the direction of the game at every major opportunity. »

À propos de ce jeu

Estium is an old-school MMORPG built by one person with a vision to bring the nostalgic feel of the early 2000s back. There's a rich world out there with mystery and secrets, battles to be won, accolades to be earned, and friends to make along the way. Nothing you build is ever wiped out from under you with content updates.

There was a time when the glory you earned in a game never left. Your levels were not part of a season. Your gear was not a battle pass reward. You could set it down for an hour, month, for a year, for as long as life demanded, and when you came back your character was right where you left them, still wearing what you earned, still worth every hour you put in.

In your path to claim the Crown of Immortality in the world of Estium, you can play as much as you want, or step away at any time. Your progress is not time gated, and you'll never be at risk of losing anything for taking a break.

You Are What You Train

There are no classes. One character can learn everything, one skill at a time. Fell rare trees, reel in legendary fish, mine hard to reach ore and smelt it down, farm bountiful crops, or forage the wilds for herbs. Then turn all of it into something great: smith weapons and armor at the anvil, tan hides into leather, brew potions, cook the day's catch. Every craft feeds and relies on another, and the best gear in the world is player-made from the ground up. Want to specialize in tinkering? Hunt down rare recipes and formulae in order to fuel your crafts, or provide components that other tradeskills rely on in order to succeed.

A World Worth Getting Lost In

Estium doesn't hold your hand. After you leave Newbie Island, the world opens up for you to forge your own story and discover secrets for yourself. The world responds to quests you've done, or gear you've acquired. Certain caves can only be explored with light sources. Certain doors only unlock with a special key. Even some creatures don't show their faces unless you complete a specific set of tasks. Discovery is part of the point, making the first time you find something feel rewarding.

Settlements That YOU Can Shape

In Estium, NPC settlements are partially run by the players themselves. The mayors set the tax rates, can draw a salary from the town stores, post quests and bounties for players to engage with, trade resources with other settlements, and even construct new buildings that give bonuses and features to the nearby area that everyone can contribute to. Vote in a fellow expeditioner that wants to take the town in a direction YOU want, run for leadership yourself, or quietly adventure without engaging at all!

Better With Friends

Form a party with other expeditioners and split the loot and kill bounties. Form or join a guild and track the progress of your clan in the hunt for the Crown of Immortality. Duel your rivals in friendly matches of PvP. Link the rare drops you've acquired directly into chat. Send items across to your allies through the in-game mailing system, or just have a /dance with them around a campfire. The other expeditioners in the world are there to forge friendships with that you'll remember for a long time to come.

Features

  • A persistent world where progress is permanent. No seasons, no resets, no expiring content.

  • Classless, skill-based progression: gathering, crafting, combat, and stranger arts still, all on one character.

  • Classic point and click style with controller support.

  • Deep crafting chains you can get lost in, where every gathered material becomes a real, usable piece of gear.

  • Melee, ranged, and spell-based combat against over 100 different creature types, including rare bosses with telegraphed abilities.

  • Player-elected town government with taxation, treasury, public ledgers, structure building, and bounties.

  • Player-run economy where players can rent market stalls to sell their goods to the public, along with banks, and player trading.

  • Interactive environments that encourage you to seek out new people to talk to, items to craft, and mysteries to solve.

Estium is in active development by a solo developer who grew up in this era, and wants to build something that they also want to play. Wishlist it, play it when you can, come back whenever you like. Estium will still remember you.
