About This Game

Handlebar is a first-person downhill roguelike about descending strange worlds at extreme speed.

Ride down procedurally generated mountains, search for the portal to the next realm, and build a growing contraption of powerful devices directly on your handlebar.

No tricks to perform, no extreme sports career rivalries. Just you, your bike, and the descent through nature-inspired worlds.

Extreme Speed

Handlebar uses visceral simcade bike physics built around high-speed descending. You'll fly down steep terrain, regret taking YOLO blind jumps, and narrowly avoid death while speeding through a dense forest.

The faster you ride, the better upgrades you'll receive for your build. Later stages will put that build to the test, as endgame levels may even prevent you from slowing down at all.

Strange Worlds

Descend through surreal mountain realms with a stylized, nature-inspired art direction and changing weather, lighting, and atmosphere.

Follow the path towards the exit portal, or leave it behind to cut corners, search for secrets, and find your own route. The wilderness will not guide you back if you get lost.

Build Your Handlebar

Every item you collect is physically mounted to your bike and remains visible while you ride.

Combine navigation tools, recovery systems, defensive devices, active abilities, and stranger machinery into powerful synergies that operate in real time as you progress through the run.

Control Your Run

After every descent, choose where to go next.

Take a dangerous route for greater rewards, or use an easier stage to recover and strengthen your build. Narrower paths, total darkness, hostile weather, low gravity, and powerful curses gradually push each run further.

Reach the end, or die and try again.
