What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cute Kitty WAR was built by playtesting — every system in the game was shaped by real runs, real feedback, and real "that didn't feel right" moments. Early Access scales that up. The game is deep and fully playable today, but a game with 48 cats, 97 weapons, and a danger ladder this tall deserves tuning against thousands of living rooms, not just ours. We want the community's runs, feedback, and couch-co-op stories shaping the final balance and polish.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect somewhere in the range of six months to a year. We're guided by readiness rather than a calendar date — the game leaves Early Access when the balance, polish, and feature set feel truly finished, not when a deadline arrives.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full game is already here content-wise — the plan for 1.0 is depth and refinement rather than missing pieces. We plan to: refine balance across the whole danger ladder using real player data; add Steam achievements built on the game's existing deeds and journeys; polish the endless mode's presentation and pacing; expand controller support to full certification across Xbox and PlayStation pads; and continue adding creatures, items, and surprises where the game asks for them. Plans may evolve with what the community's feedback teaches us.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable, start to finish. The complete 12-wave run with 48 playable cats, 97 weapons, 171 items, and 143+ creatures including 10 authored bosses; six danger levels; 1-4 player couch co-op; a living storm system; a full in-game codex; and the earned endless mode beyond the fence — all in and working. What's ongoing is tuning, polish, and the refinements listed above. This is not a demo or a slice; it's the whole game, being sharpened.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're not planning on changing the price when we leave Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read everything. Steam discussions and reviews will directly feed the balance and polish work — this game has been shaped by playtest feedback from its first week of development, and that simply continues at a larger scale. We plan to ship regular updates with honest, detailed patch notes, and the game's companion site (the Command) documents every creature, weapon, and rule for players who want to go deep. If something feels wrong in your runs, we genuinely want to hear exactly where and why.”

About This Game

The yard is under attack. The cats were napping there.

Cute Kitty WAR is an arena survival game about the fiercest neighborhood watch ever assembled: 48 cats, each with their own rules, defending a suburban backyard against waves of pests that are somehow both adorable and completely out of line.

A run is 12 waves. Between waves, spend your hard-earned materials in a shop that tells you the truth — every card shows the real math, every number is honest. Build toward a bruiser, a gunner, a gardener with a structure empire, a luck goblin — 48 cats and 18 weapon classes bend the rules in 48 different directions.

Then the sky opens. Storms roll in as real weather — rain carpets, wind, lightning, flooding ponds — and the yard fights on underneath it.

And if you win? The fence holds a secret. An earned endless mode where the yard's folklore comes marching — weakest to strongest, at a pace YOU set. How deep you go is a dedication, not a difficulty slider. We won't spoil what walks at the end of that procession.

Features

  • 48 playable cats — real rule-changing kits, their own starting gear, and a journey to complete

  • 97 weapons across 18 classes — every one with honest, readable math on its card

  • 171 items — engines, pacts, pets, and cures that stack into ridiculous builds

  • 143+ creatures including 10 authored bosses with fixed, learnable kits — fights you master, not fights that cheat

  • 1–4 player couch co-op — deliberately friendlier than solo; bring the family, the shop splits into strips

  • Danger 0–5 — higher danger buys harder decisions, not just bigger numbers; danger 5 fields the twin bosses

  • A living storm system — five escalating weather levels that change how the yard reads and plays

  • An earned endless — the procession past the fence, paced by your own dedication dial

  • Kittain's Log — a full codex: creature discovery, trophy wall, the yard ladder

  • Every telegraph is fair — attacks are forecast where they land; if you got hit, you could have moved
