About This Game

Story:

Set in the year 2045, during America’s second Gilded Age, a new age of AI and robotics has caused 95% of labor to be completely automated. This allows the majority of the population to live without the need for work. One sacrifice is made; the internet and wireless communication must be shut down to prevent AI from entering a rebellious and ravenous state.

Trying to get away from their PMC life, Markus takes a civilian contract offer to help collect high value electronics from abandoned worksites within the city before they are demolished for good. While completing this job, Markus accidentally finds himself in the midst of a dark and horrid conspiracy that spirals with each new artifact uncovered.

Gameplay:

Missing Protocol mixes the narrative-driven storytelling of top-down isometric CRPGs with the anxiety-inducing puzzle solving of retro survival horror games.

Top-down Isometric City Exploration:

Explore this retro futuristic city that is filled with wandering NPCs, factions, and multiple buildings. Advancing the main story advances the day-night cycle of the game, causing NPCS to move and locations to open and close.

Third Person Survival Horror:

Missing Protocol mixes the gameplay loop and aesthetic of retro survival horror with modern controls and puzzle systems.

Interactive Puzzles:

Manipulate objects around the map and interact with moving parts to solve puzzles, read hints, or collect information on what happened at each abandoned site.

Multiple narrative branches and faction alignment:

Talk to multiple factions within the city to inform yourself on who you should complete missions for and why. Completing tasks for factions can unlock new content such as areas of previously completed survival horror levels, or a new weapon that can help improve your chances of survival.
