About This Game

Blackwire is a single-player hacking simulation in the spirit of the classics. You are a freelance agent with a gateway, a contract board, and a trace timer that does not care how close you were to done.

Take contracts from fictional corporations, copy files, empty an account, rewrite a criminal record, put someone in prison. Build a bounce route a dozen hops long before you touch the target, because every hop you put between yourself and them is time on the clock when they notice you. And they will notice you.

Then get out, and clean up after yourself. Their admins walk your log trail hop by hop, and the entry that names your gateway is sitting on the first server you bounced through. Scrubbing it is not a side activity. It is how you stay alive.

FEATURES

A living network — hundreds of servers, banks, registries, and mainframes. Every machine keeps logs. Every log can hang you.

The trace is the game — an active countdown while you work, a passive investigation after you leave. Outrun one, erase the other.

Follow the money — crack a bank account and chase stolen funds through chains of transfers, or wire someone else's credits to yourself.

Mainframes — crawl their internal interface lock by lock towards root, past scanners, ICE, and counter-intrusion hardware that hacks you back.

Build your rig — mainboards, cpus, drives, and a catalogue of software from bruteforce to ghost. Split your CPU between the crack and the shield and hope you split it right.

Two corporations at war — both want to hire you against the other. Both pay well. Both remember.

A story that finds you — someone is clearing freelance agents off the board, one by one. Your name is on a list you have to steal to read.

Entirely offline. No accounts, no server, nothing real — a game about the fantasy of hacking, the way it looked in the movies and never was.
