About This Game

I never wanted to be the dad who says "go study."

You're an office worker in your forties. You live in Tokyo, went to a decent university, work at a decent company.
You never took entrance exams as a kid yourself. You wanted your daughter to grow up free.

...Right up until you noticed the part of you that quietly hopes she gets into a top school.

Happy Project 12 is a life-sim in which you become the father of Hinata, a fourth-grader,
and live out the three years leading to her junior high entrance exams in February of sixth grade.

Three years, 69 turns. Every weekly choice decides everything

Each turn, you decide how your daughter spends her time.

  • Have her study — Japanese, math, science, social studies. Her stats grow, her stamina drains
  • Let her play — stamina and drive come back. But that week's studying is gone

Six stats grow: STEM Knowledge, Humanities, Reading, Calculation, Reasoning and Drive.
But— a daughter whose Drive has bottomed out will not do what you tell her.
"I don't feel like it today." One sentence, and the week you planned disappears.

Mock exams: reality with nowhere to hide

Six of them in three years. National mock exams score your parenting without mercy.
Depending on her results, she moves between Class α and Class β at cram school.
Move up and she gains confidence; drop down and— dinner that week gets a little quiet.

Grades aren't the only thing that matters

In this game there is something you have to watch besides her academic ability.

It's the trust between parent and child.

What you answered when your daughter asked for help.
The face you made on the day her grades fell.
All of it adds up, never once shown to you as a number, and quietly decides how it all ends.

Because you can't see it, all you can do is believe in your own three years.

A family isn't a battle you fight alone

Your wife Naomi checks the exam forums and social media every single night.
She rides every high and low of your daughter's grades, second-guesses your decisions, and is slowly worn down.

Leave her alone and your family breaks before the exams do.
...Entrance exams are not the child's problem alone.

Over 50 story events, and 11 endings

Afternoons with friends, cram school meetings, Christmas, the walk home from a mock exam, and exam day itself.
All kinds of events unfold one after another across the three years.

And waiting beyond the final results are 11 different endings.

Getting into her first-choice school doesn't guarantee happiness.
Failing every school doesn't rule out redemption.
...What decides it isn't only her deviation score, but how you faced your daughter over three years.

Endings you reach are recorded in the ending gallery, and you can play again and again until you've filled it.
