About This Game

ABOUT THIS GAME

The Old Forge is an open-world sandbox survival horror game set in a world inspired by 1990s Poland.

When the first infected appeared, you fled into the woods. The world outside slowly fell silent.

You survived there for months, until a fire woke you in the night. Panicked, you grabbed whatever you could and ran. By morning, your shelter was gone.

Now, survival means returning to civilization.

Tell your own story. Leave the beaten path. Scavenge abandoned houses. Follow forgotten roads toward towns. Break through walls. Dig into the earth. Build a home far from civilization — or turn the ruins you find into a place you can call your own.

How you survive is entirely up to you.

SURVIVE

Food and water are only the beginning.

Your character must deal with wounds, temperature, clothing, exhaustion and the changing conditions of the world around them. A cold night without shelter can become as dangerous as the infected outside.

Prepare before leaving safety, choose what you carry and decide whether another trip into an abandoned settlement is worth the risk.

EXPLORE 1990s POLAND

The Old Forge takes inspiration from the forests, villages and industrial landscapes of southern Poland.

Explore old rural roads, lakes, forests, abandoned homes, workshops and remnants of heavy industry in a world shaped by the atmosphere of the early 1990s.

There are no futuristic cities or military super-weapons waiting around every corner.

You survive with what this world left behind.

SCAVENGE

Almost anything useful has to be found.

Search houses, sheds, workshops and abandoned buildings for food, clothing, tools, weapons and materials.

A kitchen may give you something to eat.
A garage may contain the tool you desperately need.
An isolated house deep in the forest may be worth entering — or may become a trap.

You cannot carry everything.

Deciding what to leave behind is part of surviving.

BUILD YOUR HOME

Build more than a temporary shelter.

Create foundations, walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows and functional interiors. Expand a small forest cabin into a fortified home or build an entirely new structure where you choose.

Construction quality develops alongside your character's skills. Greater experience allows you to create stronger, better-built structures and eventually improve their appearance with finishing and painting.

But walls are not invincible.

The infected can attack doors, windows and other vulnerable parts of your shelter.

CHANGE THE WORLD

The terrain is not just scenery.

The voxel-based world can be physically altered. Dig into the ground, reshape terrain and create trenches, underground spaces or foundations for your structures.

Resources hidden beneath the surface can become another reason to leave safety and start digging.

CRAFT AND USE WHAT YOU FIND

Turn scavenged materials into the things you need to survive.

Prepare simple tools and equipment by hand, then use workstations and specialized equipment for more advanced tasks.

Build a fire. Prepare food. Process materials. Repair what can still be saved.

Progress comes from learning how to use the world around you rather than following a predefined class.

THE INFECTED HEAR YOU

The infected are not simply targets waiting in predetermined locations.

Sound matters.

Breaking glass, fighting and other noises can draw unwanted attention. Light and activity can also turn an otherwise safe location into a dangerous one.

Sometimes avoiding a threat is smarter than fighting it.

Sometimes throwing a stone through a window somewhere else may be enough to create the opportunity you need.

A WORLD THAT DOESN'T EXIST FOR YOU

Weather changes. Darkness comes. Temperatures fall. Buildings offer protection. Fires provide warmth.

The world is a place that must be understood, prepared for and survived — not a collection of combat arenas built around the player.

You are here to survive.
