About This Game

A world that lives on your desktop

Keepwatch: Idle Kingdom RPG is a medieval auto-battler that lives right above your Windows taskbar. You command a single hero — but not directly. They wander, work, grow, and fight incoming enemies on their own. Your role is to grow your camp, make gear and skill decisions, and step in at critical moments.

The game stays open on your desktop until you close it. It runs quietly in the background at its own pace, never interrupting your real work — but there's always something happening if you glance over.

One hero, one path!

There's no class selection — a single archetype. What makes your build interesting doesn't come from a character creation screen, it comes from your skill tree and the gear you find. Your hero grows stronger by leveling up, but the real difference comes from your armor, your weapon, and the skill choices you make.
By day, your hero works around camp, gathers resources, and builds. When night falls, the real threat begins: waves of enemies march on your camp, and your hero fights them automatically.

Build your camp, grow your kingdom!

Five different buildings, each upgradeable up to ten tiers: Home, Blacksmith, Kitchen, Workshop, Vault. Each gives your hero a different edge — passive experience, crafting recipes, storage capacity, or gear upgrades. The more you develop your buildings, the stronger the gear your hero can access.

Home

Blacksmith

Kitchen

Your hero passively earns experience here while idle around camp.

The heart of weapon and armor upgrades — higher tiers raise your success chance.

Recipes crafted here feed your hero's endurance and recovery.

Workshop

Vault

The crafting hub for clothing, bags, and potions.

Keep your inventory and gold safely stored.

Automatic combat, real tension!

The moment your hero spots an enemy, they fight — closing the distance, attacking, and using skills automatically. Your job is preparing the right gear and skill tree; your hero handles the rest.

Three tiers, one glance to read

Every enemy silhouette tells you everything you need to know before the fight starts:

  • Raider — light, narrow, unarmored. Fast and weak on their own, dangerous in a crowd.

  • Soldier — mid-sized, partial armor, often carries a shield. The baseline threat once your camp is established.

  • Champion — broad-shouldered, fully armored, slow but hits hard and soaks up damage.

No health bars to squint at — silhouette alone tells you what you're facing at a glance.

Ten cultures, one battlefield

Every enemy tier comes reskinned across ten distinct cultures — Arabian, British, Chinese, Frank, Holy Roman, Iberian, Japanese, Roman, Turkish, and Viking — drawn at random per spawn. A night wave can throw a Viking raider and a Japanese raider at you side by side. Culture is purely cosmetic: it never changes stats, weapons, or behavior, so the only thing you ever need to read off an enemy is its silhouette.

Weapons and range are never fixed

Enemies don't carry a hardcoded loadout. On spawn, each one draws from its tier's weapon pool — the same weapon catalog your hero uses — which also decides whether it's carrying a shield and what level its weapon sits at. Anyone wielding a bow or crossbow fights at range instead of melee; there's no separate "archer" type, ranged is simply a consequence of the weapon drawn. The same soldier who closed to melee last night might hang back with a bow the next.

Every upgrade is a real risk!

Gear doesn't just get better with gold — it gets rarer. Pushing a weapon or piece of armor toward its cap means gambling gold and materials against real odds of failure, and at high levels, real odds of losing the item outright.

Guaranteed early, risky late

Every weapon and armor upgrade follows the same shape, scaled to that item's own level cap:

  • Early levels succeed automatically — no risk, just cost.

  • Past roughly a third of an item's max level, failure becomes possible. Failing never rolls back a level — you only lose the materials spent.

  • Past the halfway point, failure carries a chance to destroy the item completely, resetting it to +1.

A +10 weapon and a +20 armor piece sit in the exact same rarity band — each costs around 6,000 gold and roughly three burned items on average to reach.

Stacking the odds in your favor

Two bonuses push your success chance up, capped at a combined +55%:

  • Building tier — every Blacksmith/Workshop tier adds +2%, up to +18% at max tier.

  • Pity counter — every consecutive failure on that item adds +7%, up to +42% after six failures in a row. A success or a destroyed item resets the counter.

Reaching your camp's building cap roughly doubles your odds at a given target level compared to going in with a fresh forge — investing in your buildings pays off directly at the anvil.

A season goal, not an evening goal

Pushing a weapon to its absolute cap costs thousands of gold and several burned attempts along the way — by design. High-level gear is meant to be something you work toward over many in-game days, not something you grind out in one sitting.

Key Features

  • A real desktop companion — the game lives above your taskbar, running in the background without interrupting your work

  • Automatic combat — your preparation decides the outcome, not manual control

  • Day/night cycle — build by day, survive by night

  • 5 buildings × 10 tiers — grow your camp strategically

  • Deep gear system — weapon and armor upgrades with real risk, burn chances, and a pity counter that rewards persistence

  • 3 enemy tiers × 10 cultures — read the silhouette, not a health bar

  • Skill tree — 3 branches, shape your own playstyle

  • Offline progress — your camp keeps going even when the game is closed

  • Expeditions — prepare and set out for rare loot

Your keep is waiting...

Keepwatch offers a world that lives quietly in the background but always has something to show you when you check in. Grow your hero, fortify your camp — and never look at your taskbar the same way again.
