What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Desktop Halfpipe already works as a full desktop companion, but Early Access lets us keep shaping it with real player feedback (polish, quality-of-life, and new customization) before calling it “1.0.” We’d rather ship a solid overlay now and improve it with the community than wait forever in private.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for roughly 3–9 months of Early Access, depending on feedback and how much we expand after launch. We’ll leave Early Access when the companion feels stable, well-documented, and feature-complete for a 1.0 release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to grow Desktop Halfpipe based on what players actually use. Directions we’re interested in include:

More riders, tricks, and scene options (weather, environments, visual tweaks)
Quality-of-life (hotkeys, tray options, performance, multi-monitor edge cases)
Optional sound effects and/or music with mute controls
Deeper scoring / challenges without turning it into a full skate “career” game
Better Steam integration over time (for example Cloud saves), if it clearly helps players

The core idea stays the same: a silent-friendly interactive halfpipe on your desktop, not a big traditional skate game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build is a playable Windows desktop companion today. You can ride, land air and ground tricks, chase high scores and streaks, customize rider/weather/trees/pipe options from the tray, use Idle mode, and follow a short first-run tutorial. It’s already suitable for daily desktop use; Early Access is about refinement and expansion, not finishing a blank slate.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We’re not planning to raise the price just for leaving Early Access. If we add a large amount of new content later, we may reconsider pricing for new buyers, but our current plan is to keep pricing simple and fair for Early Access supporters.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’ll watch Steam discussions, wishlists/reviews, and our community spaces (including Reddit) for bug reports, feature requests, and setup clips. We plan to prioritize fixes and features players actually ask for, share update notes when we ship changes, and keep the feedback loop open throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

Turn the bottom of your screen into your own little skatepark.

Desktop Halfpipe is a cozy, lightweight desktop companion and arcade action-sports toy that lives at the bottom of your screen. Skate, BMX, scooter, inline skate, snowboard, or ski while you work, browse the web, play games, watch streams, listen to music, or just hang out.

Drop in for five minutes and chase a high score—or leave your rider cruising in the background while you get things done. Your desktop just got a little more fun.

Choose Your Ride

Choose from six different riders and riding styles:

  • Skateboard

  • Inline Skates

  • BMX

  • Scooter

  • Snowboard

  • Skis

Switch between them instantly from the system tray and make your little corner of the desktop your own.

Satisfying Arcade Gameplay

  • Desktop Halfpipe is easy to pick up and surprisingly fun to master.

    • Carve the pipe with A / D or ← →

    • Launch into the air and perform aerial tricks

    • Chain tricks together to build bigger combos

    • Land ground tricks including Ollies and Kickflips

    • Chase personal high scores

    • Unlock Steam Achievements for tricks, combos, and milestones

There are no complicated skill trees or massive progression systems. Just ride, trick, land, repeat.

Four Seasons, Two Environments

Your halfpipe changes with the seasons.

Enjoy four seasons, skate parks and snowy winter environments, plus atmospheric weather effects including:

  • Seasonal environments

  • Gentle rain

  • Falling snow

  • Drifting fireflies

It’s a tiny world designed to make your desktop feel a little less static.

Tailored to Your Desktop

Desktop Halfpipe isn't trying to take over your monitor. Customize your setup directly from the system tray:

  • Adjust halfpipe size

  • Change window opacity

  • Adjust riding speed

  • Enable Idle Mode for automatic riding

  • Quickly hide or show the game with Ctrl + Shift + 0

  • Keep the game silent by default

  • Save settings and high scores locally on your PC

It’s lightweight by design, so you can keep it running while you work, browse, game, stream, or watch YouTube without turning your desktop into another full-screen game.

Built for streams & desk vibes

Desktop Halfpipe can also become part of your stream.

Let your audience queue tricks through Twitch chat while your rider tears up the pipe, turning a tiny desktop companion into a fun little interactive element for your community.

Optional DLC

The base game is intentionally lightweight. When you want to expand your desktop playground, our library of free DLCs lets you customize your Halfpipe world exactly how you want it.

Halfpipe Radio
Add a soundtrack of over 400 lo-fi, jazzhop, and East Coast hip-hop instrumentals and four curated radio stations.

A collectathon with optional Twitch chat interaction for casting and reeling. (Coming soon:) Low Tide patch: Collect shells on the beach next to your halfpipe at low tide and fill your shell encyclopedia.

(Coming Soon) Halfpipe Pocket: Roast Story
A retro 8-bit shopkeeper simulator for your rider's handheld. Play an addicting loop of serving coffee, watering herbs, and collecting books from thirsty spirits. Includes Twitch chat integration for coffee orders.

(Coming Soon) Halfpipe Pets
