About This Demo

The First Sea is free. Sail it like you mean to keep it.

Pirate Twist is a top-down naval roguelite where your ship is the only home you have. The demo hands you Captain Rourke, a freshly rebuilt sloop with coin to arm it, and the First Sea. No guides and no time limit.

In the Demo

• Arm your ship: you start at Port with Armor Plating ready to mount and coin for cannons; buy them, mount them and pick your live broadside

• The First Sea: two branching lanes, reshuffled every new run, and you can cross forward between them. The chart holds pirate fights, the Devil's Bargain, a Cursed Wreck, a Treasure Hunt in uncharted waters, the Sea Cave and a Skill Chest, with a named boss captain at the end

• Steering is aiming: swing your broadside onto the enemy and the guns fire the moment it is in the arc

• Four kinds of shot: chain tears sails, grape cuts down crew, fire keeps burning, and a shot through the stern deals more than double damage

• Captain and crew: spend captain skill points, hire and train crew in Port

• The ending: sink the boss, watch it strike its colours, and take the victory screen

In the Full Game

• Three seas per campaign, each ending in a duel with one of six boss captains

• Five captains: Rourke sails the demo; Reyes, Voss, Sable and Marisol wait in the full game

• More on every chart: Defend the Port, the Clue Hunt, the Chandler's Trading Post, and two marked Elites with a Figurehead for your bow

• The victory lap home, the Ascension ladder, 35 achievements and a global leaderboard
