About This Game

Lose and you die. So there is nothing left but to win.

Centuries before the common era, you are a nameless gladiator slave.

You have no freedom. You have no road to choose.

Only one thing is left: keep winning in the arena, and your master may one day set you free.

Eight days of preparation, then the games

How will you spend the eight days before the spectacle?

Each day, choose one action from a branching map.

Train to sharpen your body, buy gear from a merchant, or burn through your luck at the gambling table.

Whatever you gain, you always pay for it.

A different action for every technique

Combat is real-time. Every attack technique has its own action input, and your precision

becomes the power behind the blade. Keep stamina, focus, bleed, and EP in motion,

and take control of the exchange.

Four fighting styles

  • Murmillo — All-rounder: a guard that never breaks.

  • Retiarius — Critical: put everything into a single strike.

  • Dimachaerus — Flurry: bury them under sheer volume.

  • Thraex — Bleed: stack wounds and wear them down.

A different build every run

The class tree resets each run, so where you grow is entirely up to you.

Gear rolls with random traits, and the Oath you draw at the start of a run

grants powerful benefits that reshape the way you fight.

Features

  • 1-2 hour runs. Lose, and it's over

  • Real-time gladiatorial combat with a distinct action for every technique

  • Build variety across 4 styles, class trees, gear, and oaths

  • A branching map and a wide range of events

  • Distinct bosses, and a story that follows one gladiator

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some of this game's artwork (character portraits, backgrounds, cutscenes, icons) and some
sound effects and music were created with generative AI tools and then hand-edited by the
developer. AI coding assistants were also used during development, with all output reviewed
and tested. All AI-generated content is pre-generated and reviewed before release — the game
runs no generative AI during play and sends no player data to AI services. All in-game text,
dialogue, and story were written by a human.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Invictvs is set in the gladiatorial arenas, and the following mature content appears throughout the game.

Violence. Every match is armed combat fought to the finish with swords, tridents and nets. Opponents are defeated by reducing their health to zero, and a defeated opponent delivers a dying line of dialogue before the match ends. Bleeding is a core combat mechanic: blood spray, blood mist and pools of blood on the sand are drawn as visual effects during fights. The art style is stylized hand-painted pixel art. There is no dismemberment, no open wounds and no photorealistic gore.

Death of the player character. When the player is finally defeated, their owner turns his thumb down and the player character is put to death by the sword. The scene is presented as narration over a still illustration of an empty arena — a fallen helmet and a sword planted in the sand. The killing itself is never shown.

Slavery and human trafficking. The player character is an enslaved gladiator who is owned, trained and made to fight for his owner's profit. The prologue depicts his village being burned and his family being killed, and then depicts him being sold at a slave auction where buyers handle his body and force his mouth open to inspect him. Winning his freedom from his owner is the goal of the game.

Alcohol. Optional events between matches include drinking at a tavern and sharing stolen wine. No drug use is depicted.

The game contains no sexual content, no nudity, no depictions of sexual assault or
non-consensual sex, and no depictions of suicide or self-harm.
