Hit with the right element and your damage doubles. Hit with the wrong one and the enemy heals instead. A horde-survival roguelike where you only steer: five element skills auto-cast, chains and masteries rebuild every run, and 15 realms each hide an Elemental Lord.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are launching in Early Access to test the game with a live Steam audience. Our goal is to validate combat feel, elemental build balance, progression pacing, and technical stability across a wide range of PCs, then improve the game based on real player feedback before a full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for Early Access to last approximately 1 months, depending on feedback, bug fixing, and content polish. We will leave Early Access when the core gameplay loop, meta progression, and stability meet our full-release quality bar.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full release to include more polished content and systems on top of the Early Access foundation: additional realms and enemies, more heroes and build options, deeper meta progression, stronger onboarding, and further balance and performance improvements. Specific features may change based on community feedback, so we describe these as planned directions rather than hard guarantees.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early Access already includes the core top-down action roguelike loop: auto-casting Five Element skills, run upgrades and synergies, clearance and endless-style modes, hero loadouts, loot and crafting-style meta progression, and online account features such as cloud save support. We are using Early Access to stress-test balance, retention systems, and platform stability while continuing to expand content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Loer Chronicles is planned to remain free to play, with optional in-app purchases. We do not plan to convert the game into a paid upfront purchase after Early Access. Optional offerings may expand or be adjusted over time based on economy health and player feedback.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community through Steam Discussions, announcements, and patch notes. We will watch bug reports, balance feedback, and feature requests closely, then prioritize fixes and improvements that most improve fairness, clarity, and fun. Where useful, we may also run short feedback surveys or patch experiments during Early Access.”

About This Game

The Source Ring broke. Loer tore apart into floating isles, and the rifts it opened have been bleeding Essence Devourers ever since.

You are an Elementalist. You handle the movement — your five equipped element skills fire on their own. Everything between the first spawn and the Elemental Lord is a build decision made at speed.

THE WRONG ELEMENT DOESN'T UNDERPERFORM — IT HEALS THE ENEMY

Every hit is resolved against the Five Elements before anything else. Most pairings land as ordinary damage. The ten pairings on this wheel decide the fight:

  • Red arrows — Mutual Overcoming. The right element. Your damage is multiplied by roughly ×2 and lands with its own hit effect. Health bars fall off a cliff.
  • Green arrows — Mutual Generation. The wrong element. The target takes no damage at all. It recovers health instead, by roughly ×2 the hit you just landed — so the harder you hit, the faster it heals.

The whole system fits in five lines. Your element beats the first target and heals the second:

  • Wood overcomes Earth · feeds Fire
  • Fire overcomes Metal · feeds Earth
  • Earth overcomes Water · feeds Metal
  • Metal overcomes Wood · feeds Water
  • Water overcomes Fire · feeds Wood

This is what makes a loadout matter more than a damage stat. Take a Wood build into a Fire realm and you are not doing less damage — you are healing the Elemental Lord with every shot, for the whole fight. And it tightens as you climb: on higher difficulties the Overcoming bonus shrinks while the healing penalty grows.

Realm intel shows the Elemental Lord's element and the three skills it runs all fight before you commit. Bringing the wrong five into a run is a decision you made, not an accident.

CHAINS WANT BREADTH. MASTERIES WANT DEPTH.

Every level-up deals you three cards. What's in the deck:

  • 35 element skills — projectiles, beams, orbitals, summons, auras and ground traps. You take five into a run.
  • 35 chain skills — invest across a generation pair (Wood→Fire, Fire→Earth, Earth→Metal, Metal→Water, Water→Wood) and an extra skill starts casting itself for free. All five pairs can run at once.
  • 60 masteries — push one element down one branch far enough and it forks: A or B, then C or D. These rewrite how an element behaves, not just its numbers.
  • 96 relics — common through epic, pulled out of realm ruins mid-run.

A single run is never long enough for both. Spreading wide lights up chains early; committing hard gets you the mastery that defines the run. You make that call with the horde already on screen.

FIVE ELEMENTALISTS, FIVE DIFFERENT PROBLEMS

Every hero has a home element, a talent that shoves you toward one playstyle, and a cost you will feel:

  • Vel · Verdant Warden (Wood)Forest Symbiosis. Summons hit harder and turn their own damage into your shield; below 25% HP you start regenerating. Everything that isn't Wood lands softer.
  • Brock · Lava Smith (Fire)Forge Heart. Kills stack damage. Go eight seconds untouched and you Quench for more damage and attack speed; take one hit and you Overheat. Water damage hurts him 30% more.
  • Golen · Royal Knight (Earth)Bedrock Bulwark. Every hit taken stacks damage reduction, up to 45%. He gets tougher the deeper you stand in the swarm. He also never dodges — ever — and heals 40% worse.
  • Zero · Void Walker (Metal)Void Step. A successful dodge guarantees a crit that ignores half of armor, and Metal attacks execute non-boss enemies outright below 15% HP. Paper health. No margin for error.
  • Celeste · Twilight Stargazer (Water)Starlight Guidance. Anything slowed, chilled, frozen or rooted takes +25% crit chance and +35% crit damage from every element you own. Freeze first, delete second. Extremely fragile.

Hero levels raise the talent passive with no ceiling and unlock four advanced talent skills per hero at Lv.4 / 7 / 10 / 13 — twenty more auto-casting skills that never take up one of your five slots.

15 REALMS. 15 ELEMENTAL LORDS.

  • Stage runs — pick a realm and one of three difficulties, clear the kill quota, then put the Elemental Lord down inside 120 seconds. This is where element skills and armor drop.
  • Reincarnation Realm — one entrance, no exit. Beat the boss and the world rotates to another realm; the tide compounds in power every minute you stay alive. Leaderboards settle daily and weekly on kills.
  • Realm ruins — timed elemental hazard fields that open mid-run in both modes. Hold the ground and it pays out; clear one on a stage run and it drops a relic chest.

BUILD BETWEEN RUNS

  • Gear with instances and affixes — element skills and armor drop with quality tiers and rolled affixes. Enhance them at the Blacksmith, salvage the rest into enchanting materials, forge what you're missing.
  • Player Marketplace — list your spare instances, buy the piece your build has been waiting on, settle through the in-game mail.
  • Hero Cards — dropped by minions, elites and bosses; spend them to unlock heroes and push hero levels.
  • Milestones — lifetime kills, survival time, damage, realm hazard clears and more, across 46 claimable tiers.
  • Friends — deploy a friend's hero as an AI companion that fights alongside you for the whole run.

FREE TO PLAY, STATED UP FRONT

  • No ads on PC. The desktop build ships without an ad SDK at all.
  • No energy system and no run limits. Play as long as you want.
  • No paywalled power. The shop sells crystals, gift bundles and an optional 30-day pass — no exclusive skills, no exclusive damage multipliers, no strength-gated tickets. Everything on sale can also be earned in-game.
  • A free daily gift of 600 crystals on every platform.
  • One account across PC, mobile and web, with cloud saves.

Loer is still in pieces. Go pick some of them up.
