Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Timberline Factory is a physics-based sawmill and automation simulation developed by a solo indie developer. Because logs move dynamically with real physics across conveyor belts, saws, and processing machines, getting the balance and mechanical flow right is crucial. Early Access allows me to work directly with players to test complex conveyor layouts, fine-tune daily maintenance costs, and improve the overall gameplay loop based on real community feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is planned to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. This timeframe may change depending on community feedback, the scope of requested features, and overall game balance.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, I plan to expand the core factory experience with additional wood types, more complex processing chains, and new automation machinery. I also aim to include more research upgrades, additional contract objectives, and overall polish for the physics and quality-of-life features based on community suggestions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version features a fully playable core gameplay loop of physics-based timber processing and sawmill management. Players can build and customize conveyor belts, place saws and debarkers, unlock automated lines like the Headrig, and stack finished lumber using the BoardStacker. Key systems such as machine wear, repairs, research upgrades, and dynamic objectives are already implemented and functional.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price is planned to increase moderately upon the full release to reflect the additional content, features, and overall polish added throughout the Early Access period. I want to build this game together with the simulation community. That’s why I chose a lower entry price for the Early Access phase to reward early supporters. As more features, deeper automation lines, and challenges are added, the price will increase step by step for the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to actively gather feedback and bug reports through the Steam Discussion Forums and community channels. Because physics-based automation can create unexpected edge cases and bottlenecks, player experience is invaluable. I will closely monitor discussions regarding machine balance, maintenance costs, and conveyor mechanics to directly shape future updates and improvements.”

About This Game

LOGISTICS MEET PHYSICS

Forget rigid animations and pre-defined paths. In Timberline Factory, every log is a fully physics-based object. They have weight, they roll, and they can cause bottlenecks if your line isn't optimized. Strategically plan your layout on the available slots to master the physical flow of wood, a tactical challenge that rewards precision and clever logistics.

AUTOMATE & GROW
Construct complex sawmill layouts from the ground up. Place conveyors, debarkers, and advanced sawing units. As your factory grows, you’ll unlock automated systems like the Headrig Line and the Boardstacker to turn raw logs into profitable bundles of boards.

THE TIMBER INDEX: A BREATHING MARKET
The economy isn't flat. Master the Timber Index, a dynamic market system with a mean reversion algorithm. Prices for logs, boards, and pellets fluctuate based on market mood and random walks. Will you sell your stock now or wait for the market to bounce back?

MAINTENANCE & CLEANING
Industrial machines are powerful but not indestructible. Sawdust and heavy usage wear down your equipment. Monitor machine dirt levels, manage repair costs, and hire Cleaning Staff to automate maintenance. Invest in Titanium upgrades to minimize downtime and keep the production humming.

THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Nothing goes to waste. Use the Biomass Power Plant to turn bark into green energy to lower your operating costs. In the late game, expand into the Pellet Plant, turning sawdust into a highly profitable secondary product. Close the loop and maximize your factory's efficiency.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Physics-based Logistics: Logs roll and collide - your layout must handle the chaos.

  • Deep Campaign: Many Chapters of milestone driven progression from first board to pellet empire.

  • Dynamic Market: Real time price fluctuations for all wood products.

  • Complex Production: Automate everything from debarking to kiln-drying and pellet pressing.

  • Challenge Modifiers: Customize your experience with harder market conditions or strict maintenance.
