About This Game

You won the election. Now comes the hard part.
POLIS is a satirical political city sim set in small-town Greece. You govern month by month, for up to 17 years — building, taxing, promising, compromising — while the town watches, remembers, and votes.

The town remembers

Citizens here aren't statistics. They have names, kafeneio tables, and long memories. They write you letters — for years. They grow old, their children grow up, and both will judge what you actually did, not what you announced. Decisions you made in your first spring will knock on your door a decade later.

Elections every four years

A permanent opposition leader builds a career out of your mistakes. Your council votes, sulks, and negotiates. Campaign promises are recorded — keeping them wins trust, breaking them writes headlines. Win, and you carry your record into the next term. Lose, and the town moves on without you.

Choose what your town becomes

Pursue decade-long visions: the green transition, a university city, safe streets, homes people can afford — or the European Capital of Culture bid, committee visits and all. Great works take years, cost fortunes, and are inaugurated by whoever comes next.

Or take the dark path

A dedicated mode for a different kind of mayor: envelopes, offshore accounts, friendly journalists, a shell company or two. The money is excellent. The trial, when it comes, is less so.

A dozen towns, a dozen headaches

Port crime in Piraeus, crushing debt in Kalamata, overtourism in Mykonos, a shrinking ghost town in Drama, the climate on Alexandroupoli's doorstep — each scenario starts from a real kind of Greek trouble and asks what you'd do about it.

Governing, the Greek way

A local newspaper that rewrites your day into headlines, POLIS FM chattering in the background, EU-funded project videos of suspicious optimism, and a contractor whose scale model always has tiny trees. The models always have tiny trees.
