About This Game

You are a night watchman in 1996. The shift begins like any other: an isolated post, an industrial perimeter surrounded by pine trees, the checklist, strong coffee, and a silence broken only by a distant car. Cameras. Gates. Patrols. Afterward, you finally head home — but the shift seems to follow you into the dark.

Stay Inside: After Shift is a first-person psychological horror game focused on routine, isolation, and the exact moment when "just another shift" stops being just work. Low action. High tension. Details that simply shouldn't be there.

What You Play

A single-player campaign split into four night shifts, set on specific dates. The beginning is purely mundane and professional. However, as the calendar progresses, the strangeness builds: an object out of place, a silence too heavy, and a camera showing exactly what you didn't want to see.

Each shift is divided into three moments:

  • The Job — Foot patrols around the post, monitoring the guardhouse, and inspecting the yard, warehouse, and perimeter.

  • The Drive — Drive your car down wet roads between the forest and asphalt, commuting between the shift and your home.

  • The House — The "after shift." Lights out, the hum of the fridge, the cold bed, and the computer. The game doesn't end when you clock out.

Key Features

  • First-Person Immersion — Detailed exploration, interaction, and constant environmental tension (in the style of Fears to Fathom).

  • Shift Objectives — Follow checklists to the letter: refuel the car, buy groceries, lock gates, and complete post duties.

  • CCTV Monitoring — Sit in the isolated guardhouse and watch the security camera feeds.

  • Full Interaction — Control doors, light switches, the flashlight, radio, beeper, and objects that can be inspected or stored.

  • Realistic Inventory — Carry only everyday items like groceries, keys, and a flashlight. There is no arsenal here.

  • Retro Computer — Use a diegetic desktop in your home, featuring an in-game first-person shooter minigame with global Steam leaderboards.

  • Analog Aesthetics — Visuals inspired by the PS2 era and found-footage materials, with screen filters and grain tuned for maximum immersion.

  • Atmospheric Sound Design — The sounds of nature, wind through the cracks, and footsteps in the silence. Pure atmosphere, no action soundtracks.

Progression and Challenge

Forget skill trees or levels. Progression is narrative and time-based: each survived night unlocks the next day on the calendar. The real challenge lies in paying attention to details, fulfilling your duties, and living with what the environment hides — dealing with jump scares, investigations in the dark, and the constant feeling of being watched.

Duration: A short-to-medium campaign featuring four playable nights (several hours of gameplay at your own pace, with a save system between shifts).

What Makes This Game Different?

  • The horror stems from the weight of routine and the boredom of a night job, not from combat mechanics.

  • The map organically connects the workplace, the road, and your home, making the after-shift vital to the plot.

  • A slow psychological burn: the first night is normal, but the calendar closes the psychological trap right after.

  • A nostalgic breather: the old PC at home hides a competitive minigame with Steam leaderboards.

Content and Transparency

A purely single-player experience. The complete story is included in the base game, with no DLCs required and completely free of microtransactions.

Warning: This game contains mature themes, severe isolation, and potentially disturbing content aimed at psychological horror fans.

Spoiler Alert

The synopsis above preserves the mysteries of the plot. Only read the excerpt below if you want a detail about the game's advanced narrative dynamic:

During the first shift, you share duties with your coworker, Joe. He starts out friendly and cooperative. However, in the following shifts, the trust between you fractures. The horror grows directly from this unsettling psychological relationship and the secrets hidden within the industrial post itself.
