Stories Once Told is a first-person souls-like dungeon crawler that puts tactical combat and tense exploration front and center. This demo drops you into a single, hand-crafted level. Just you, a dark tunnel, and whatever's waiting at the end of it.

What to expect in this demo:

Fight your way from entrance to exit through goblin-infested tunnels. Every corridor is a choke point, every room a fresh threat. Clear the path, unlock the way forward, and face progressively tougher enemies as you push deeper — until you reach the final chamber.

Choose your build:

Play as the Mercenary, the only class available in this demo, and pick your loadout before you descend:

• Hammer and shield

Coming in the full release

This demo is a solo experience, but Stories Once Told is being built for more. The full game will introduce multiplayer, additional classes, more dungeons, and new bosses to test your build against.

This game uses AI-generated music, created with the assistance of Suno AI. The majority of the soundtrack, including ambient exploration music and boss battle themes, was generated using Suno AI and then reviewed, edited, and processed by the development team before being included in the final product. One additional track was composed entirely in-house without the use of AI.

Stories Once Told features fantasy combat violence. When enemies are hit, blood sprays from wounds, and pools of dried blood can also be found as part of the level environment. There is no dismemberment or gore beyond blood effects — defeated enemies simply fall and disappear. The game includes fantasy potions used as gameplay items (e.g., healing), and some characters may be depicted smoking, though this is incidental and not a focus of the game. There is no excessive or glorified depiction of alcohol or drug use. The game has a mild horror-tinged atmosphere (dark dungeons, tense encounters, and environmental traps that can catch the player off guard), though it is not designed as a horror game. There is no sexual content or nudity in the game.
