What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Nordic Vanlife is a community-driven project, and Early Access allows players to help shape the game while it continues to grow. The core gameplay is almost playable, and player feedback will help us improve mechanics, fix bugs, balance progression, and prioritize new features.

The goal of Early Access is to build the game together with the community while expanding the world, activities, and overall gameplay experience over time.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I currently expect Nordic Vanlife to remain in Early Access for approximately 12–18 months. This timeframe may change depending on community feedback, the scope of planned improvements, and overall development progress.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version focuses on delivering the core Nordic Vanlife experience. During development, we plan to expand the game with additional locations, activities, survival systems, jobs, items, vehicles, customization options, and quality-of-life improvements.

I also plan to continue improving multiplayer functionality, optimize performance, add more random events, and refine existing mechanics based on player feedback. While these are our current plans, development priorities may change as the game evolves.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already offers a fully playable sandbox experience. Players can explore the world, drive a camper van, manage survival needs such as hunger, thirst and fatigue, interact with objects, cook food, collect resources, use electricity and water systems, and experience the core gameplay loop.

Online multiplayer is currently under work and that will allow players to experience vanlife together. However, some systems are still being expanded and polished, and players should expect bugs, incomplete content, balancing adjustments, and ongoing improvements throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to gradually increase the price as new content, features, and improvements are added throughout Early Access. Players who support the game early will receive the complete game and all future updates included with their purchase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role in the development of Nordic Vanlife. We will actively listen to player suggestions, bug reports, and gameplay feedback through the Steam Community Hub, Discord, and other social platforms.

About This Game

Nordic Vanlife is a first-person open-world vanlife game set in the Finnish countryside. Play solo or jump in with friends in multiplayer.

You live in a converted van. You drive gravel roads and two-lane highways, stop at quiet lakes, cook in a tiny kitchen, and sleep where you parked. Fuel, water, power, food and fatigue all matter. The weather turns. The moose does not wait.

Bring friends along for the trip. Share the van, split the jobs, argue about the next campsite, and deal with whatever goes wrong on the road together.

This is not a postcard fantasy. Things break. You run out of diesel on a forest road. You forget to charge the batteries. You take a job in a village and make it worse. Then the sun comes up over the water and it still feels worth it.

On the road

  • Drive a camper van through forests, villages and lakeside tracks inspired by Finland

  • Play alone or with friends in multiplayer

  • Day and night, rain and ice — plan the trip, or don’t

  • Watch the road. Wildlife does not use crossings

In the van

  • Cook, sleep, store gear and keep the interior livable

  • Manage fuel, fresh water, electricity, hunger, thirst and fatigue

  • Repair, maintain and slowly upgrade the van so it survives longer trips

Off the grid

  • Camp almost anywhere: lakeshore, gravel pit, behind a petrol station

  • Take odd jobs for cash when the tank and the fridge are empty

  • Choices have weight. Unpaid fuel and bad decisions follow you

Early Access: Drive, camp, survive, work, tinker with the van, and play with friends. The world, jobs, systems and multiplayer will keep growing with players. Price will rise as the game grows. Wishlist if you want the version of vanlife that includes mud on the sills, a moose in the headlights, and someone in the passenger seat.

Online co-op is in development and will expand during Early Access.

Features

  •  Drive and maintain your van across the nordic countryside.

  •  Experience a dynamic day and night cycle while exploring the open world.

  •  Explore forests, villages, lakes and hidden locations inspired by Finland.

  •  Be careful with your choices—crime and unpaid purchases can have consequences.

  •  Repair, maintain and upgrade your van to survive longer adventures.

Nordic Vanlife is being developed in Early Access with the goal of expanding the world, adding new activities and continuously improving the experience together with the community.
