Fate Startrail is a single-player roguelite strategy RPG combining physics-based pinball combat, familiar dice, and board exploration. Aim and launch your character through a field of dice; each collision rolls a result and triggers a familiar to attack, heal, control, or chain another effect.

About This Game

Launch Your Character Into a Field of Dice

Pull back to choose a direction and launch power, then send your character ricocheting across a closed physics arena. Every valid collision rolls a die, raises the combo for the current launch, and resolves the effect inside that die.

Your character controls the trajectory, but does not directly attack enemies. Ordinary dice provide reliable collision damage, while only familiar dice have attack power. Which die you strike, what result it rolls, your current combo, and the elemental matchup determine whether the collision deals damage, heals, grants shields, applies a lasting effect, controls an enemy, or keeps your momentum alive.

Turn One Launch Into a Chain of Effects

A strong trajectory is about more than hitting as many dice as possible. Strike a kinetic familiar first to extend the launch, use control familiars to weaken an incoming enemy action, build bleed and seal effects, then finish the sequence with an explosive familiar. You can also build around healing, shields, odd and even results, natural high rolls, or repeated collisions.

Striking familiars charges your character's active skill. Each character also has a unique passive mechanic called an Intent Art, which changes how you plan trajectories, maintain momentum, or survive without adding a second generic energy bar.

Build a Run From Four Ordinary D6s

Every run begins with no familiars and four ordinary D6s. Earn contracts through battles, events, shops, and quests, expand your active formation to as many as eight dice, and reorganize your collection in a twenty-slot reserve.

The current familiar pool contains 23 distinct identities across direct damage, healing, damage over time, control, shielding, and kinetic support. Familiars gain levels and tiers, reshape their faces, and grow from D6s into D8s, D10s, D12s, or volatile D20s. Your power belongs to the familiar die you actually strike—not to a fixed character attack stat.

Roll Across Three Fate-Bound Realms

Outside combat, roll a movement die and travel across a large looping board through the Mistwood Frontier, Ember Marsh, and Starfall Ruins. The three regions are shuffled at the start of each run, while events, enemies, rewards, and route decisions change with the run seed.

Encounter fate cards, shops, treasure, quests, familiar contracts, wandering units, and concealed special routes. Fate Points let you move with precision, redraw an event, restore health, or continue after a defeat, but every intervention spends a limited chance to rewrite the journey.

A standard run contains 60 exploration turns across three stages. At the end of turns 20, 40, and 60, you face a stage boss while keeping the familiar team, dice faces, relics, and character build you have assembled so far.

Five Fatecasters, Five Intent Mechanics

Choose from five characters with different health, launch speed, active-skill thresholds, and Intent Arts. Characters do not use separate attack stats.

Leiya restores momentum by moving between different familiars. Mira anchors a familiar and curves a later collision back toward it. Noi charges seven stars by striking her own star lanterns, converting recovery into shields at full health and briefly preserving momentum when all seven are filled. Gran stabilizes low-speed launches and gains protection. Koro rewards alternating odd and even natural rolls.

Choosing a character changes how you read the field, design a trajectory, and manage risk throughout the run.

Read Enemy Intentions and Break Multi-Phase Zodiac Rulers

Enemies remain outside the launch field and reveal their upcoming actions. They can attack your character or disrupt familiars with freeze, silence, reduced values, forced movement, and sealed faces. Read the target, duration, and counterplay before you launch, then decide whether to press damage, redirect your route, or clear a mechanical obstacle.

Each run culminates in three Zodiac ruler battles with distinct three-phase mechanics. Bosses rely on visible parts, countdowns, danger zones, shields, and vulnerability windows rather than hidden defense or phase-lock invulnerability.

Build Power During the Run, Not Before It

Familiar levels, tiers, faces, formations, and active slots belong to the current run. After a defeat, long-term progress unlocks characters, story, discoveries, challenges, difficulties, and cosmetics instead of permanently increasing your starting combat power.

Fate Startrail is designed as a complete premium single-player game for Steam, with no gacha, ads, battle pass, or power-selling microtransactions.
