What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Apawcalypse: Corrupted Brain is entering Early Access because its core gameplay systems are complete and fully playable, but a roguelike deckbuilder is defined by its long-term balance and replayability. We want to work closely with the community to refine combat balance, card design, Artifacts, enemies and progression using real player feedback and gameplay data before the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last between 6 months and 1 year. The exact duration will depend on development progress and community feedback, with our priority being quality rather than meeting a fixed release date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes two playable Acts and the complete core gameplay experience with three playable survivors.

The full release is planned to expand the game with a larger roster of playable survivors, a complete third Act, additional enemies, Elites, Bosses, cards, Artifacts and Events. We also plan to continue improving game balance, UI/UX, visual effects, sound, music and overall polish throughout Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the complete core gameplay loop, including deckbuilding, team-based combat, progression across two Acts and three playable survivors. Players can experience the full combat systems while we continue expanding content and refining balance throughout development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The game will be offered at a lower price during Early Access. As major content updates are added and the game approaches its full release, the price will increase to reflect the expanded amount of content and overall value.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role throughout Early Access. We will actively gather feedback through Steam Discussions, Discord, X (Twitter), Facebook and player surveys. In addition to written feedback, we'll use gameplay data to identify balance issues, improve underused cards and mechanics, and guide future updates. Our goal is to work with the community to make the game more balanced, rewarding and replayable over the course of Early Access.”

About This Game

A mysterious corruption is spreading across the region, twisting the minds of every creature it touches. Assemble a team of animal survivors, uncover the source behind the outbreak, and fight your way through ever-changing runs where every battle, card and Artifact shapes your strategy.

Command Three Survivors

Every battle is fought by a team of three survivors, each with their own deck, strengths and combat role. The entire party shares a single Action Point pool, so every card played is a choice between offense, defense and supporting your teammates. Success comes from coordinating the whole team rather than relying on a single character.

Every Character Brings a Different Strategy

Each survivor contributes to the team in a different way. Sharp Bengal overwhelms enemies with relentless offense, Pirate Albino supports the fight through gadgets and calculated precision, while Boss Shepherd keeps the team alive with powerful defensive abilities. Experiment with different team compositions to discover powerful strategies that no single character could achieve alone.

Survive the Corruption

The corruption is as dangerous as the enemies themselves. Each survivor has a Stagger meter. When it fills, they become Broken, losing their next turn and becoming vulnerable to devastating attacks. Most defensive cards allow another survivor to Intercept an incoming attack, stepping in to take the hit instead. Knowing when to protect an ally—and when to risk pushing forward—can decide the outcome of an entire battle.

Build Three Decks

Each survivor builds their own deck throughout the run. Draft new cards, upgrade existing ones and discover powerful Artifacts that reshape your strategy. Every addition strengthens an individual character while creating new synergies across the entire team, making every run feel different.

Explore a Corrupted Region

Travel through corrupted Zones filled with dangerous enemies, unpredictable Events, powerful Elites and terrifying Bosses. Every route presents different risks and rewards, encouraging you to adapt your strategy as the corruption grows stronger.
