About This Game

On the day they graduate high school, an anonymous message draws five friends back to their empty middle school. They slip past the wall and descend to the basement club room that was once theirs.

The doors won't open. No one else is in the building. As the night wears on, they begin telling the story of their shared past—and no two versions fit.

The Fifth Name is a claustrophobic psychological mystery visual novel about memory, silence, and the stories people tell to live with themselves. There are no puzzles to solve and no items to combine. The mystery unfolds through conversation: what people say, what they refuse to say, and what each version quietly costs someone else.

The story, characters, original Korean script, and game design of The Fifth Name
were created by a human author. Generative AI was used to create visual and
audio assets and to assist with localization, as described below.

Pre-generated AI content in this game:

- Visual assets. Backgrounds, character art, store capsule art, key art, and
title-logo imagery were created using OpenAI image-generation tools. These
assets were selected, edited, composited, and finalized by the developer.

- Audio. Ambient audio, sound effects, and background music were created using
ElevenLabs Sound Effects. These files were trimmed, looped, mixed, and
finalized by the developer.

- Localization. Translations from the original Korean are produced from
AI-assisted first drafts, then reviewed, corrected, and approved by a human
proficient in each target language before being included in the game.

No AI-generated content is produced during gameplay, and the game does not
connect to an external AI service. All AI-assisted content is pre-generated
during development and included as fixed content in the shipped build.

The Fifth Name includes bullying, physical and psychological abuse, self-harm, suicide, murder, and death.

Violent acts are brief and presented non-graphically through text, sound, stylized silhouettes, and single-color shadows. The game includes non-graphic scenes
involving stabbing, self-inflicted injury, and a dead body. The game does not show blood, gore, dismemberment, or detailed wounds.

There is no sexual content or nudity.
