A satirical life-and-money sim. One turn is one month: budget your hours, work the job, ride the market, outlive inflation and your own decisions. In the demo you play one character, the Student, start to finish: make their dream come true. Or at least don't die trying.

About This Demo

The demo is the full game with one playable character: the Student. You get their whole run, from the first month of school to whatever ending you earn, with no time limit. Fair warning: the Student is the tutorial character, with goals built to be reached fast, so their run is a good deal shorter than the other characters' lives. The character roster is the only cut: every system is in, at full-game content and balance. Jobs, education, shopping, the stock market, subscriptions, events, inflation. Demo saves stay in the demo and don't carry over.

Net Worthless is a turn-based game about running one ordinary life like a small business that never quite breaks even. One turn is one month. You don't walk your character around town. You sit where they sit: in front of the plan, the bank balance, and the consequences.

It starts with picking a character. Each one is a different life with its own starting point, goal, and deadline: a student with more ambition than furniture, a laid-off office worker with a severance check and a grudge, and other people you might recognize from the mirror. Different constraints, different endings. In practice, a different game each run. In the demo, the Student is the one you can start; the others are on display, locked until the full game.

Plan the next 30 days: hours of sleep, hours at the desk job, hours in the gym, hours learning to code, hours doomscrolling. Take the job offer or hold out for something better. Enroll in a course, invest, finally cancel the subscription you forgot you had. Then end planning and watch the month play out. Paydays drop in, bills drop out, and about once a quarter life interrupts with an event you didn't budget for.

Inflation compounds quietly while you sleep. Rent doesn't care how your month went, subscriptions keep charging until you notice them, and a balance below zero digs itself deeper on its own. When you feel lucky, there's a stock market full of parody companies like Snoogle, Charbucks and Nokla. It can beat your salary for a year, then take it all back in one red month. The numbers behave like the 2020s. Only the brands are made up.
