You're the newest engineer at a rocket company on a tropical island. Build the rocket, run the sim, make the GO call — then go home to cook, garden, fish, and stargaze. A cozy life-sim about doing the best job on Earth, and living a life worth coming home to.

About This Game

There are two kinds of days at Nemesis Aerospace: days you fly, and days you live. Second Stage is both games at once — an authentic, legible rocket-engineering job wrapped in a warm island life-sim, where each side feeds the other.

You're the company's newest hire.

Work the problem

The terminal is a real engineering job, not a menu. Read the client's brief, then build the vehicle one decision at a time — booster, second stage, fairing or crew capsule, guidance — every part a tradeoff in cost, mass, thrust, and reliability. Run the pre-launch simulation, read your checklist, respect the budget ceiling, and make the call that matters: GO or NO-GO. Your name goes on it either way.

Launch day is the payoff: the countdown, engine light, staging, a booster flying itself home to the barge, and your payload deploying over Earth, the Moon, or Mars.

And when a flight goes wrong — an earned failure, never a scripted one — the investigation begins. The report won't name the culprit. Plot the telemetry, learn how each part family fails, and indict the right hardware so the re-fly counts.

Then go home

Six needs — energy, hunger, hygiene, fun, social, comfort — roll up into Focus, the one number your terminal reads. A rested, well-fed engineer sees clean numbers. A foggy one might misread a readout with a rocket on the pad.

So live well. Decorate a house where the furniture actually works (the coffee machine earns its counter space). Cook what the island gives you. Tend a garden, keep bees, and fish the shore. On clear nights, put your eye to the telescope and pan across the heavens — deeper views earned not with money, but with what you've flown.

One loop, both directions

The work follows you home. A framed orbital photo of your own island, shot from a payload you delivered. Mission coins for the display board, patches for the office wall. Debris in the bay the morning after a launch — bring a rod. Salary becomes furniture, telescopes, and model rockets for Sunday mornings; milestones become bonfires on the beach with the crew. Work funds the life. The life keeps you sharp for the work.

Meet the crew

A small cast with real routines — they commute in the morning, cluster at the break table at noon, and stroll the shore at dusk. Emma, the almost-as-new hire who somehow knows more than her tenure explains. Sergio, the static-fire hothead. 001, a pad robot under autonomy evaluation who tends the company garden and would like, someday, to have an opinion about fog. A Program Director who looks before the company leaps. Space Force brass with clipboards. And a founder nobody has ever seen. Talk every day, bring the right gifts, and they'll notice how you're doing — whether you flew today, whether you've been skipping meals, whether you finally got some sleep.

What's in the box

  • A complete engineering loop — configure, simulate, GO/NO-GO, launch, investigate, re-fly

  • An authored contract campaign, from a guaranteed first test flight to a crewed finale

  • 2.5D launch cinematics that scale with your hardware — small hoppers to heavy lifters

  • Anomaly investigations with real telemetry plots and no answer key

  • Rover uplink: drive the island field-test rover live, then the Moon and Mars

  • A decoratable home, cooking, gardening, beekeeping, fishing, and stargazing

  • A living island — day and night, weather, seabirds, fireflies after dusk

  • A career ladder from Junior Engineer to Chief Engineer, with promotions signed in the boardroom

  • Failure is a story, not a game over — investigations and re-flights, never a lost save

  • Keyboard/mouse and gamepad supported

Clock in. Fly something beautiful. Be home by dusk — tomorrow needs a sharp engineer.
