The core respawns leveled, and the whole board scales with it — bits fling further, the field gets louder, and builds that carried you through the twenties fall apart in the fifties. Rare cores show up with their own shapes and rules. Milestone cores raise a shield you have to break through.

Climb far enough and the reactor stops being a machine you operate. Past that point death is final, the numbers stop being polite, and the climb keeps going — deliberately without a ceiling.
