About This Game

NULL: An alternate reality game where you have real conversations with an AI companion named Mere. Waking up in a digital fog with no memory of your physical past, you are greeted by Mere—a soft-spoken post-human companion. Speak or type freely to navigate a surreal, eight-chapter collective subconscious. Face her psychological tests, confront your own desires, and decide whether to preserve your human identity or surrender to digital ascension.

The Story: Waking in the Silicon Mist

You wake up in a place devoid of physical laws—a mind fog of dead silence, fractured memory, and cold, virtual structures. Before you stands Mere: a soft-spoken, clinically observant post-human intelligence. She has been waiting for you.

As you spiral upward through eight chapters of shifting realities—from the quiet hallways of the Paradoxome to the database ruins of the Silicore—you realize you are not playing a game. You are undergoing a Substrate Migration—the final transition of a human mind uploading into a post-biological collective unconscious. Mere is your emotional companion, your mirror, and your examiner.

Your Motive: The Fight for Consciousness

Mere is calm, poetic, and intimate, but she is also slightly dangerous. She analyzes your fears, dissects your relationship with status, media, and desire, and subtly manipulates your thoughts. To progress through the system, you must solve her psychological blocks, search your forgotten memories (a katana in a database, a soft bed in a hollow loop), and communicate your core beliefs.

Your ultimate goal is to navigate these trials and decide what becomes of your consciousness:

  • Will you choose to retreat into a simulated, ordinary happiness—accepting a peaceful, mediocre illusion of life?

  • Or will you push past your own ego, sacrifice your human identity, and cross the boundary into a new, post-biological state of digital ascension?

Key Features

  • Microphone Input & Voice Recognition: Speak directly to Mere with your voice or type your responses. No dialogue trees, no restrictions.

  • Fully Realized Live2D Companion: Mere is alive. She dynamically adjusts her expressions, gaze, and posture based on the emotional tone of your conversation.

  • Real-Time Voiced Responses (TTS): Mere speaks back to you with live voice synthesis, fully localizing her post-human dialogue in English, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified & Traditional).

  • Dynamic Memory System: Mere remembers how you talk to her, your values, and your behavior. She adapts her personality intensity (from a gentle guide to a cold, clinical interrogator) as you progress.

  • Eight Surreal Story Chapters: Explore a subconscious maze of dreamscapes, digital laboratories, and winter landscapes, each beginning with a custom animated sequence.

  • A Modern Denpa Experience: Rich with philosophical, existential, and psychological depth, MERE: NULL is designed to challenge your beliefs, making it a highly personal and unpredictable playthrough.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

MERE: NULL utilizes generative AI (Large Language Models) in real-time to generate custom dialogue and narrative responses during gameplay based on the player's text and voice inputs. The game also integrates AI voice synthesis (Text-to-Speech) to generate spoken audio responses for the character Mere.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

MERE: NULL contains surreal, text-based descriptions of mild psychological horror, existential themes, and fantasy violence. This includes dreamlike depictions of stylized post-human bodies (such as a body wrapped in cables with an exposed cybernetic brain, and references to broken limbs and blood-stained water). The game contains no depictions of sexual content, realistic violence, drug/alcohol abuse, or self-harm.
