What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Larithea is a story-driven RPG, and the two things that benefit most from real players are combat balance and story pacing. Early Access lets us tune encounters against how people actually build their spells and refine the story chapter by chapter before the full release. It also gives us time to bring the game to more languages - we plan to add translations during Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Larithea to be in Early Access through 2027 and into 2028, releasing chapter by chapter until the story is complete.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to follow the team across the whole world - the Early Access build opens in the Ormron desert, and we plan for later chapters to carry the story into new regions, with more sigils, spells, and enemies as the party grows.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early Access starts after the first chapter - the Ormron desert - is finished and reworked with what players tell us about it. Until then there's a free demo: it opens the beginning of the chapter and widens as the rest of it comes together. The Early Access release is that whole chapter - the five-member party, spell crafting, and dozens of battles across a path through the desert that forks more than once, ending on the first major turn in the story. Several hours of play, complete as a chapter. From there the story continues, one chapter at a time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes - we plan to gradually raise the price as we add chapters and content. Early Access is the lowest the game will be.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read every piece of feedback through the Steam Community Hub and discussion boards, and it feeds directly into balance and story updates.”

About This Game

Larithea is a cute anime RPG about friendship, trust, revenge, and finding your way back from the darkness. A team of young mages is sent out into the world — each of them with their own road ahead. Others have walked it before. Few found their way back.

Meet the team

  • Maya — silver-haired heiress to a healing dynasty and the largest private hospital in Ormron, Maya has never known want or hardship. Her future was settled the day she was born — and a schoolgirl crush on the school's most sought-after Magister was never going to change that, unless it did.
  • Tara — a girl with no past and no certain future, Tara has fought for everything she owns. All she wants is a place of her own in the world — even if earning it means joining a pack of privileged brats on a fool's errand.
  • Nell — quick to laugh and quicker to burn, Nell collects friends in minutes and grudges quicker still — it only takes someone cruel picking on someone smaller. Ask him about home and the smile stays; the answers stop.
  • Grey — born in a free city of the north, the idle son of a prosperous baker who paid his tuition in full, coin counted out on the table. So where does his knowledge of the old magic come from?
  • Dart — the most talented student in the school and the coldest, Dart earned a Magister's badge before most of his year earned a passing mark, then took every field assignment that led away from Ormron. About his life before the school he has never said a word.

Build your spells

Craft your own spells from the materials you gather — combine sigils to make the attacks and support your team runs on.

Lead the team

Turn-based encounters on a grid. Place your spells, plan your positions, watch the fight unfold.

The world

Something is off at the edge of the desert. Strange lights, old spells waking up, water gone from where it always was. Ormron sits at the border of a Veil no one crosses — and whatever's stirring out there was buried a long time ago, on purpose.

In this chapter

  • A five-member party, each with their own school of magic
  • Spell crafting from sigils
  • Dozens of turn-based battles across a branching path through the Ormron desert
  • A story told in chapters, released one at a time

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Song of Larithea is made by a solo developer using generative AI across the pipeline: the artwork is AI-generated and then hand-edited in Photoshop, and the voice lines, music, and sound are AI-generated as well. The story is the author's own, adapted from her own novel, with AI helping polish the English text - and future translations will be AI-assisted too. Every asset is reviewed, corrected, and finished by hand before it ships.
