What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“No Witnesses is a multiplayer party game, and good multiplayer party games are made with the players. We want real lobbies full of real players breaking things in ways we'd never predict - so we can tune the chaos, balance the roles, and grow the game around how people actually play it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're planning roughly 6 months in Early Access, though we'll extend it if the community and game need more time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to use the time in Early Access to refine the existing systems, balance the in-round economy and introduce features the community would expect to find in our game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The full loop is playable now with 16 maps curated, all three roles, the reputation and forensics systems, the shop and contracts, 22 status effects, voice chat, character customisation and online play with player hosted lobbies, a server browser and dedicated servers.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game is not expected to change when the game leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to engage with the community our game garners primarily via our Discord and the Steam community forums.”

About This Game

At least one person in this lobby is a Killer... Nobody saw it happen... It's your job to work it out and make sure they meet their maker. A comedic multiplayer where reading the room matters just as much as aiming and where a perfectly tense standoff can be ruined (improved?) by everyone suddenly shrinking to the size of a soda can...

  • Play online or with your friends, up to 16 players (4 / 8 / 12 / 16 supported)

  • 16 maps out of the box

    • Steam Workshop support to make your own or use the community made maps!

  • Play with your friends, or total strangers - friends-only lobbies, a full server browser and dedicated server support

  • 51 Steam Achievements!

  • 12 Languages

Bystander

Survive, and don't get blamed. Anyone can identify a corpse - but can you provde who did it before someone points the finger at you? Scour the environment for random gifts, cash money or just weapons to defend yourself with. And remember, at every turn, those who you trust the most, might just turn out to betray you.

Detective (4+ Players)

In bigger lobbies you will be the ultimate assistant, use your specialised skillset to aid the Bystanders and clutch the victory. Purchase effective tools from the shop to aid you in your mission, but be careful, everyone knows your role. Killers will be out to slaughter you at the first opportunity and Bystanders will trust your every word, so be careful who you blame.

Killer

Act natural and don't raise suspicion. Remember, witnesses can talk and bodies leave evidence. Your goal is to eliminate every non-Killer player in the lobby to earn the ultimate bragging rights within your circle, but don't get too cocky, you might just fall into a trap. Purchase specalised weaponry and equipment from the shop but there's a catch. Don't let anyone see you with them, or you'll be scrambling for an excuse - or the trigger. The choice is yours.

Your Decisions Matter

Whether you play as a Bystander, a Detective or a Killer, your decisions affect your reputation with your friends. Over time they'll learn who can be trusted and who is a trigger-happy know-it-all. Make the wrong choices and your reputation will dwindle, let it fall too far and you'll meet your demise, potentially ending your winning-streak!

Pure Chaos, Every Round

This is a comedy first and a whodunnit second. Mystery gifts, phone-box killer contracts and pure chaos events sling 22 different effects across the lobby at the worst possible moments, including:

  • Moon gravity firefights and "Honey, I shrunk the kids" brawls

  • Giant heads, clown hats, bouncy legs and banana-slick floors

  • Disco guns that make you dance, confetti guns that do nothing, reverse cards that fling your bad luck onto someone else

  • "The floor is lava" - a childhood classic brought to life, jump or feel the heat of the ground

Answer the phone. Or don't.

A mysterious phonebox starts ringing. If you're the Killer, it's a timed contract with a reward for a specific mark. If you're not the Killer and you pick it up anyway you get one warning to not be so nosey... Just remember the phrase "Curiosity killed the cat"...

Gear Up

Find stacks of cash around the map and spend it at the in-round shop: deploy a decoy, disguise yourself as another player, revive a teammate with a defib, throw off your opponent with carefully placed speakers or torch the evidence with a molotov. Weapons live in the world - locate them, pick them up and if things go really wrong, throw them somewhere nobody will ever find them...

Make it yours

  • Proximity voice chat - hear people scheme, panic, and lie in real time (and yes, there's a gag that mutes you)

  • Character customisation - skin tones and wardrobe to make the character truly one of a kind

  • Emotes - Taunt, cheer, or dance. Either in the battlefield, or on the body of your enemy.
