A first-person shooter built around a deckbuilder. Draft a card after every floor and it rewrites the gun in your hands — a revolver that chains lightning, a saw that freezes what it hits. Die, bank your souls, descend the steampunk underworld again with a build that shouldn't exist.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“SOULLOOP is a solo-developed game. The full loop is playable today, start to finish — but a roguelite deckbuilder lives or dies on balance and feel, and that needs real players. Early Access lets the community shape the feel pass, the difficulty curve and which builds get to be absurd, before 1.0 locks them in.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly 6 to 12 months, depending on feedback. 1.0 ships when the feel pass, the onboarding flow and a stable content baseline are done — not on a fixed date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build is already a complete game: every floor, boss and system described on this page is in it today. The road to 1.0, in order:

— FEEL & IMPACT: hit feedback, weapon weight, readability. The top priority.
— ONBOARDING: a guided first descent and clearer difficulty selection for brand-new players.
— PERFORMANCE: resolution scaling and tuning for mid- and low-end machines.
— CONTENT: more cards, relics, enemies and encounters on top of the existing base.
— POLISH: Steam achievements, fuller controller remapping, and final art replacing the remaining AI-assisted pieces.

Nothing is held back from Early Access. 1.0 is the same game, deeper and sharper.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable start to finish, then endless ascension loops after the ending.

— 18 floors across six acts, from the Showroom down to the Heliosol Core.
— 8 weapons, each with a signature mechanic, plus 31 right-click Vent abilities.
— 42 card families across seven fusable Selves, 30 rule cards, 70+ relics, 27 inscriptions.
— Over 30 enemy types, 6 minibosses and 6 bosses — one of each per act.
— The Soul Forge: 130+ permanent meta-progression nodes. Death banks souls; nothing is wasted.
— A Daily Trial: one seed, one loop, the same odds for everyone.
— Crash-safe saves, fully offline, no account and no internet required.

Known rough edges: the game-feel polish pass is ongoing, achievements are not implemented yet, and controller remapping is partial.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will increase when the game leaves Early Access. Buying during Early Access is the cheapest the game will ever be.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam discussion boards and regular patch notes. I read everything. Balance complaints, build reports and feel feedback go straight onto the development board — Early Access exists so that feedback shapes the game while it can still bend.”

About This Game

A steampunk roguelite FPS deckbuilder. Descend the loop, spend your dead.

SOULLOOP drops you into a dying machine-world where the only way down is through. Gun through procedurally generated floors, draft cards that rewrite how your weapons work, and fuse builds the designers were too scared to ship. When you die — and you will — your souls stay banked. Spend them. Descend again.

CLEAR A FLOOR. TAKE A CARD. CHANGE THE GUN.

Three cards after every floor. One pick. The gun in your hands is not the gun you finish the run with.

  • 42 card families, each evolving down two forks — and the same card taken twice is not the same card
  • Seven Selves that fuse in pairs into hybrids: MUNITIONS, PRECISION, REACTION, CATACLYSM, FLESH, GUILE, QUICKSILVER
  • 30 rule cards that bend the run itself, plus 70+ relics that stack into nonsense
  • 27 inscriptions and the Tempering House — reforge a mediocre draw into a weapon

THE DECK REWRITES THE GUN

This is the whole pitch in one image. A stock revolver, then the same revolver wired for chain lightning. Then the saw thrower, before and after it starts freezing what it hits. It is not one gun's gimmick — it is the rule.

A GUN FOR EVERY MOOD

  • 8 weapons, from THE LAST RITE to CAPACITOR CHOIR — every one has a signature mechanic, not just a damage number
  • 31 right-click Vent abilities, including forge-only variants and redline-only Master Vents
  • The ABSOLVE finisher, and a hammer you can throw when subtlety fails

EIGHTEEN FLOORS, SIX ACTS, ONE WAY DOWN

The Showroom. The Toxic Refinery. The Frozen Reactor. The Bone Cathedral. The Furnace. The Heliosol Core.

  • Over 30 enemy types, 6 minibosses and 6 bosses with phases, telegraphs and weaknesses worth learning
  • Procedural floors on a seed — and a Daily Trial, one loop, everyone, the same odds

DEATH IS A DEPOSIT

You will not clear the loop on your first descent. You are not supposed to. Every death banks souls, and souls buy permanence — the Soul Forge is a constellation of 130+ nodes across eight signs that carries forward into every run you ever start.

EARLY ACCESS

SOULLOOP is in active development. Buying in Early Access is the cheapest the game will ever be, and your feedback directly shapes the feel pass, onboarding and content order. The full roadmap is in the Early Access section at the top of this page.

A NOTE ON AI

Some art and audio in SOULLOOP were made with AI assistance under human direction. Every system, every card, every line of code and all the balance are hand-built. Nothing is generated while you play.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some visual and audio assets were created with AI assistance under human direction — including textures, card art, capsule and key art, some 3D meshes, sound effects and voice-over. All game systems, design, code, level generation and balance are hand-built. All AI-assisted assets were reviewed, edited and approved by the developer.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

SOULLOOP is a first-person shooter with stylized but frequent and intense violence. Enemies are machines and forged monsters that can be dismembered, gibbed, set on fire and executed with melee finishers; the game features blood spray, blood pools, floor spatter and burning bodies. Combat visuals are exaggerated and non-realistic, and the game contains no sexual content, no nudity, no profanity and no depictions of real-world people.
