About This Game

The world's most powerful digital arsenal has been ransacked

A hacker (or hackers) going by the alias 'The Shadow Brokers' have breached TAO, the NSA's elite hacking unit, stolen their cyber weapons and put them up for auction. Weapons that could be used to spy on governments, steal massive amounts of money, or cripple critical infrastructure should they fall into the wrong hands. 

You are a cybersecurity analyst at the NSA, pulled from your day job into a team assembled to find out who The Shadow Brokers are. 

Jump into the cyber trenches

You will use (legally distinct) tools that mirror real life tools used every day by cybersecurity professionals to investigate alerts, interrogate logs, and find hackers. The artifacts you investigate are designed to be as faithful as possible to real life and the challenges you will stumble on like malformed events and inaccurate or missing records are ones that cybersecurity analysts battle every day. 

Change it up, or run it back

The events are procedurally generated using seed values, allowing you to replay scenarios (or share a seed with friends) and play entirely new ones. No two seeds are the same, different alerts, different perpetrators, and different endings. 

Playing for the end game

Just like real life, there are no clean win/lose endings. Your playthrough may end in a catastrophic cyber attack, catching The Shadow Brokers, or (if you do something you really shouldn't) federal prison. You will need to balance factors like stress and accuracy, push too hard and you will burn out, if you move too fast and make sloppy mistakes you will get reassigned or fired. 

And yes there will be Steam achievements for reaching different endings.

The Shadow Brokers is being built by an independent developer who works in the cybersecurity industry day to day.
