High odds mean a weak fighter.

At least, that's what most people believe.

UMBRATIO is a management sim about reading the odds board of an illegal fight pit and betting on bouts everyone else has misread. Playing it is not much different from logging into a real illegal betting site: browse the odds, deal with brokers, and put money into your betting slip, all directly through the interface.

Each week, pick a matchup from the newly posted odds that looks ripe for an upset, buy the information and intervention you need to back up that read, place your bet, and watch the fight unfold in real time. Then prepare for the next round.

Fighters with strong records get low odds. Fighters on losing streaks get high odds. The problem is that records never tell the whole story. Some fighters step into the ring while hiding injuries. Others already know a weakness their opponent cannot handle.

Pay a broker and you can get that information before everyone else. Of course, not every tip is true. Whether you trust one source, cross-check it with another broker, or spend more money to verify it is entirely up to you.

If the matchup still is not favorable enough, intervene before the fight. There are people around every fighter who need money, and others with weaknesses they would rather keep hidden. Combine the right approach with the right action, and the fight may already be tilted before either fighter steps into the ring.

You enter this world in debt. At first, survival means scraping by on smaller fights while making repayments every two weeks. If you cannot keep up, you are out.

Use your profits to buy shares in the operation. As your stake grows, so do the money on the line and the information and methods you can access.

And fights here do not end with a win or a loss. Whether the loser lives or is executed, even that final decision has money riding on it.

Read the odds, buy information, and interfere with the outcome when you need to. One day, you may stop being the person placing the bets and become the one shaping the game.
