About This Game

Bet on Beta is a roguelike deckbuilder about the unspoken truth: whether B2B or B2C, a tech company is a slot machine. Scale a startup from a garage to an IPO, one unpredictable quarter at a time. Hire the team, pull the lever, and hope this sprint ships something. Collect users, capital, and an increasingly large pile of bugs.

Play coworkers onto the machine and spin. Each one changes what the reels can produce. Your full-stack dev can merge and occasionally introduce more tech debt; your PM can plan for the better or the worse. Land enough to hit the goal (a simple ticket or a complex epic) before the budget runs dry.

Hacks are run-defining modifiers. Turn bugs into features, then create bugs on purpose, because the more you have, the harder you hit. Slow the reels down so you can actually aim the stop button. Or make friends within the finance team to get a little extra budget every round.

  • Pick your company type. Try to solve a real user problem, or just do something with AI. Each company does not play the same.

  • Replayability: unlock new company types, cards, symbols, and slot-machine hacks as you go. Procedurally varied runs keep every run and every strategy unique.

  • Fight OKRs and Epics. Bosses and elites that punish whatever strategy carried you here.

  • Hand-drawn neo-brutalist visuals. The startup landing page aesthetic, juiced up until it's a video game.

  • Zero mercy for buzzwords. Written by someone who survived 15 years in tech and took notes.

Is this gambling?

No. No real money, no payouts, nothing to cash out. The machine is rigged, so is your roadmap. Both can be learned, exploited, and beaten. That's the game.
