About This Software

Create fast, retro-inspired 3D games

Tilky Engine is a lightweight, open-source game engine built for creating boomer shooters, dungeon crawlers, retro first-person games, and other sector-based 3D experiences.

Design your levels, place enemies and objects, create gameplay with Lua, test your game inside the editor, and export it as a standalone application.

Build Levels Quickly

Create maps using walls, floors, ceilings, textures, lighting, sprites, and interactive objects.

Tilky is designed around a focused level-building workflow, making it easier to create compact and detailed environments without the complexity of a large general-purpose engine.

Create Your Own Gameplay

Use Lua scripting to build weapons, enemies, doors, pickups, puzzles, triggers, and other game systems.

Editable script variables allow you to adjust gameplay directly from the editor without changing the script every time.

Test and Export

Play your project directly inside the editor while you work.

When your game is ready, export it as a standalone build that can run without Tilky Engine installed.

Made for Retro 3D Games

Tilky Engine is especially suited for:

  • Boomer shooters
    Dungeon crawlers
    Retro first-person games
    Atmospheric exploration games
    Small experimental 3D projects

Lightweight and Focused

Tilky avoids many of the systems and workflows found in larger engines.

Its goal is to provide a smaller, clearer toolset for developers who want to start building quickly and remain close to how their game works.

Open Source

Tilky Engine is open source under the Apache License 2.0 and can be used for both personal and commercial projects.

Tilky Engine is under active development. Features, workflows, and project formats may change as development continues.
