What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Warlords is a solo-developed game, and it's built to be tuned with its players. The full experience is already playable start to finish, but I'm actively balancing the fights, cards, relics, and difficulty using real match data and player feedback. Early Access lets the people actually playing it shape that balance and the content that gets added, which makes for a far better game than tuning it alone in the dark.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly 6 months, depending on how balancing and content goals land. I'd rather leave Early Access when the game is genuinely ready than hit an arbitrary date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to have more of everything — additional enemy warlords, card packs, relics, and events, more music and art, additional polish and quality-of-life throughout, and, most importantly, deeper and more thoroughly tuned balance across all difficulty tiers.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“It's a complete, playable roguelite deckbuilding autobattler: three acts with varied boss battles, dozens of enemy warlords across normal, elite, and boss fights, 21 draftable card packs of ~15 cards each, a large pool of relics and branching events, ascension difficulty tiers, and 1–4 player online co-op. It's stable and playable end to end, including meta-progression and unlocks.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase as content is added toward the full release. Buying in Early Access gets you every future update at the Early Access price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The game has built-in feedback and (opt-out) anonymous gameplay stats that directly drive balancing — I watch win-rates, difficulty walls, and player reports to decide what to patch. I'll keep updating based on that data and community discussion via Steam forums, and player feedback genuinely steers the roadmap.”

About This Game

Warlords is a roguelite deckbuilder where your cards muster, march, flank, and die gloriously on a living battlefield. Draft themed packs, plan your deployment, slam End Turn, and watch the clash auto-resolve. Climb a branching war map, break six act bosses, and take the crown — solo, or in online co-op with up to four warlords.

You drop each card straight onto the battlefield, and a squad of soldiers, a spell, a trap, or a siege engine springs to life right where it lands. Wall a chokepoint, flank the line, screen your archers, and let the battle play out in real time.

Spells and statuses turn a losing clash. Rain meteors on a packed line, then stack Poison, Bleed, Fragile, and Charm until the enemy melts before your commander ever takes a hit. 269 relics and a 33-potion belt bend the rules further, every run.

Every run opens with a draft: themed card packs — armored legions, spider broods, walking bombs, con artists, love sorcery, splitting slimes, rising ghosts — and together they become your entire card pool. Even your commander is assembled from the packs you pick, so no two runs look or play the same.

Every act boss hides a signature phase that flips the fight. Cut Rex Mortifer to half health and the dead rise; strike Verdy B. Queen and the whole garden erupts. Six bosses across three acts stand between you and the crown.

March as a war council of two to four. Every warlord drafts their own packs and plays their own hand — but you share one battlefield, one map, and one fate. Vote your route, suggest picks in a friend's draft, scrawl battle plans straight onto the field, and hold the line together: the clash begins when every crown is ready.

The road between battles bites back. 129 hand-written events — haunted shrines, crooked gamblers, going-away gifts from Uncle Jim, and a wheel of fate that can crown you or curse you. Read the room, weigh the odds, and decide what your army is willing to pay.

Fight across green frontiers, amber woods, volcanic scars, frozen wastes, and jungle ruins — each arena with its own hazards and a battle-wide condition to fight over.

Forty-one named lords bar the road to the crown — slime tides and spider broods, con artists and brass colossi, banshee choirs and the Pale Rider. Every one fields its own army, fights its own way, and hides its own dirty trick. Fell them all.

  • ⚔️ 790 cards across 21 draftable packs, events, and enemy armies — squads, spells, traps, siege engines, and persistent Powers

  • 👑 41 named enemy lords (six of them act bosses), each with bespoke units, tactics, and taunts

  • 💎 269 relics and a 33-potion belt to warp every run

  • 🗺️ 3 acts of branching maps — battles, elites, merchants, campfires, and 129 hand-written events

  • 🤝 Online co-op for 2–4 warlords — Steam invites, lobbies, and rich presence

  • 🏆 78 achievements and a compendium that logs every card, relic, and lord you meet

  • 🐿️ Uncle Jim

Win or lose, every march unlocks more — new packs, new cards, and new pages of the compendium.

Wishlist Warlords and you'll get the word the moment the crown is up for grabs.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

This game's art and music were created during development using generative AI tools. Specifically: the painted 2D illustrations — card art, event illustrations, and background images — were generated with AI image tools, and the background music tracks were produced with AI music tools. In every case the developer reviewed, selected, edited, and finalized the results, which ship as fixed image and audio files.
