Why Early Access?

“Coin & Steel is an ambitious game that combines blacksmith shop management with top down RPG exploration. While the core gameplay is playable, I have many systems and features planned that will continue to expand the experience throughout development.

Early Access gives me the opportunity to improve the game with feedback from the community as new content and mechanics are added. Player feedback will help shape balancing, progression, crafting, combat, and overall quality of life while I continue to develop the game.

My goal is to build Coin & Steel alongside the community through regular updates, adding new content, improving existing systems, and creating the best game possible.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect Coin & Steel to remain in Early Access for at least one year. As a solo developer, I want to take the time to expand the game's content, refine existing systems, and incorporate community feedback. Rather than rushing to a full release, my goal is to ensure the game reaches a level of quality that both I and the community are happy with before leaving Early Access.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The goal for the full version is to offer a larger and more polished experience with additional content, expanded progression, and more gameplay systems than are available during Early Access.

I plan to expand the world with new areas to explore, increase the amount of content available throughout the game, and continue adding new features that deepen both the shop management and adventure experience. Community feedback during Early Access will play an important role in helping shape these improvements as development continues.

Throughout development, I will continue refining existing systems, improving game balance, fixing bugs, and making quality of life improvements. While plans may evolve over time, my goal is for the full version to provide a deeper, richer, and more complete experience than the Early Access release.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable and includes the core gameplay systems that define Coin & Steel. Players can run their shop, use the blacksmith workshop, brew potions in the alchemy lab, and venture into the RPG Adventure Mode to explore, battle enemies, and gather valuable resources.

While these core systems are in place and playable, development is still ongoing. Additional content, new areas, expanded features, balance improvements, bug fixes, and overall polish will continue to be added throughout Early Access as the game evolves.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. I plan to offer Coin & Steel at a lower price during Early Access as a way of thanking players who choose to support the game while it is still being developed. As new content, features, and improvements are added throughout Early Access, I expect the price to gradually increase to reflect the game's expanded scope and overall value.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role throughout Early Access. I plan to actively listen to player suggestions, bug reports, balance feedback, and quality of life ideas as the game continues to grow.

When there are multiple ideas for future content or features, I plan to involve the community by holding polls so players can help prioritize what I work on next. While I'll continue following my overall vision for Coin & Steel, I want the community to have a meaningful voice in helping shape the game's future.”

Coin & Steel is a top-down fantasy RPG that combines blacksmithing, shop management, exploration, and action combat. Build a thriving business, forge equipment at your own anvil, complete quests, and venture into dangerous lands filled with monsters, treasure, and valuable resources.

Become the Town Blacksmith

Run your own blacksmith shop and turn raw materials into valuable equipment. Forge weapons, craft armor, complete customer orders, and build your reputation through the quality of your work.

Blacksmithing is more than selecting an item from a menu. Work inside your shop, use the forge and anvil, master the crafting process, and develop your skills as a blacksmith. Unlock new recipes, improve your equipment, and create increasingly powerful gear for your customers or your own adventures.

Run a Growing Business

Open your shop, manage your inventory, serve visiting customers, and complete contracts before their deadlines. Every weapon you forge and every successful sale brings you closer to expanding your operation.

Your ambitions do not have to end at the blacksmith shop. As your wealth grows, you will be able to invest in additional businesses, including a tavern and an alchemy shop. Build a network of profitable shops and become one of the most successful merchants in the region.

Leave the Forge Behind

The world beyond town is becoming increasingly dangerous. Orc soldiers and encampments have been sighted throughout the forests and swamplands, while other creatures and threats wait farther from civilization.

Equip weapons and armor made in your own workshop, then set out to fight enemies, complete quests, search for treasure, and gather materials that cannot be found in town. Everything you recover can help strengthen your character, improve your equipment, or grow your business.

Early quests guide your progress and gradually unlock new locations, opportunities, and greater freedom to explore.

Choose how to spend your time as the world opens around you. Master the forge, take on quests, explore dangerous lands, manage your growing businesses, or divide your time between them. A successful expedition can provide valuable materials for your workshop, while a profitable business can fund the equipment needed for your next adventure.

Spend Time at the Tavern

Take a break from the forge and visit the local tavern, where you can play two different card games. Test your strategy in an original fantasy card game created for Coin & Steel, or sit down for a game of blackjack.
