About This Game

You inherit a small kingdom at the edge of a wider world. Your father is dead. Your council is waiting. You have twenty four years and a young heir to raise before the crown passes on.

Reign one long story, quarter by quarter. Every four turns is a year. Every year brings weather, harvest, taxes, disputes at your door, and news from your borders. Choices ripple. There are no pure good or evil options. Every decision touches at least two systems: gold and grain, army and approval, trust and rumor.

Choose your queen. Choose your challenge. Six queens arrive with letters at the start of your reign. Each carries a hidden storyline, her own way of shaping the kingdom, and her own crisis in Year Twenty One if you leave her arc untended. The Spymaster and Explorer are the gentler paths. The Diplomat and Warrior demand more. The Steward and Treasury are unforgiving. Pick the one whose story you want to live.

Six advisors, one per quarter. Your council fills out as the reign begins. Your Diplomat carries messages across the map. Your Explorer opens the four cardinal paths and returns with the Founder's Stones. Your Spymaster plants towers and reveals what the pigeons will not say. Your Steward runs the town, your Treasury the coin, your Marshal the walls and the recruits. Send them where you need them. Listen when they come to you with something they cannot decide alone.

Raise your heir like a real person. Your heir is present from the first year, around seven years old. You choose which advisors train them. You watch them grow. Their assignments unlock real abilities on the board. Their choices about love, duty, and running away happen in front of you, and they are not on rails.

End well. The good ending is a ceremony. On the final day of the twenty fourth year you hand the crown to the person you raised. What the kingdom looks like on that day, and who your heir has become, is the reign you actually made.

One story. One reign. Yours. Fully voiced. No microtransactions, no live service, no separately sold content.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

To Raise a King was made by one person working with AI collaborators. AI tools were used in the following ways during development, and every AI output shipped in the game was reviewed, curated, edited, and approved by the developer before inclusion.

Source code. Written in collaboration with Anthropic's Claude, with the developer directing architecture, reviewing every change, and testing behavior.

Character and scene illustrations. Generated locally with the FLUX.2 image model running in ComfyUI. Prompts, reference images, layered compositions, and final selections were all authored and curated by the developer.

Voice acting. Voices were produced with ElevenLabs. The developer cast each role, wrote each line, directed the delivery through iteration, and hand-picked the takes shipped in the game.

Music and sound. Music and select sound effects were produced with ElevenLabs' music generation. Tracks were selected, edited, and placed by the developer.

Writing and design. Story beats, dialogue, and system design were developed collaboratively with Claude, with the developer as the final author.
