About This Game

In PlayIndex, games are the stocks.

Every price is driven by one number: how many people are actually playing that game right now. Live Steam concurrent player counts are pulled every 10 minutes and turned into a market you can trade. No fictional companies, no invented charts: when a game blows up on a Friday night, you watch it happen on the tape.

Build a portfolio out of games you think are about to catch fire, and sell before the hype fades.

Trade the player count

  • Buy and sell anything on the board: fractional shares, so nothing is ever out of reach.

  • Automate your exits: limit buys, take-profits and stop-losses trigger on the market scan while you're away.

  • Read the chart: price and player history side by side, 1D/1W/1M/All ranges, average-buy and trade markers, and candlesticks once you've earned them.

  • IPOs: new Steam releases debut on the board with an opening window. Get in before the price finds its level.

The market tells you why

  • Market Events: every sharp move is logged and paired with the Steam headline that likely caused it: a free weekend, a big patch, a controversy.

  • Live tape: a movers ticker and a running feed of what other traders are actually doing.

  • News: aggregated headlines from across the top of the market, flagged when a story moved a price.

  • Watchlist: star the games you're stalking and keep them one glance away.

Build a career

  • Levels and XP: earned from every trade and milestone you hit.

  • Badges and weekly objectives: rotating goals that pay out credits and XP, with Steam achievements to match.

  • Cosmetics: unlock equippable titles, name colours, avatar frames, and full terminal colour themes for the whole interface.

Compete

  • Global leaderboard: all-time net worth, with a public profile behind every trader on it.

  • Monthly Seasons: a fresh ladder ranked on portfolio growth, not on who started first. Win one and wear it.

  • Groups: private leaderboards for you and your friends. Settle who really reads the market best.

The City

Park your profits somewhere they can't crash. At Level 10 you unlock a savings account and the property market: buy lots in a city whose districts follow game genres, put up buildings, and hedge against a bad week on the board.

  • Build: eight building types, three tiers each. Some pay rent every hour; others produce materials, cut your trading fees, lift the lots next door, or pay interest on your savings.

  • The flea market: building materials are earned by playing, and players buy and sell them with each other on The City's own market.

  • Facades: cosmetic building skins that drop as you play. They are real Steam Inventory items: trade them, or sell them on the Steam Community Market.

Stream it like a news desk

Streamer Mode opens a second, OBS-ready broadcast window styled like a financial news channel: live trade tape on top, movers ticker below, a banner chyron naming the game on screen, and a chart over your shoulder. Your camera fills the frame. Flip on chroma-key mode and the unused space keys out, so you composite like a real studio. Your balance, portfolio and orders stay on your private screen; the audience only ever sees the market.

Built to fit around your day

The market ticks every 10 minutes, so PlayIndex never demands a session. Check in, study the charts, make your moves, get on with your life. Come back after a few hours and a return digest totals the rent you earned and what moved while you were gone. A desktop Companion app keeps your portfolio glanceable while the game is closed, with tray alerts when a game you hold or watch makes a sharp move.

Interface available in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.

The demo trades the same live market with the same starting cash and the same trading terminal, and demo traders get their own monthly Season ladder to fight over. It caps at Level 10 and 5 games in your portfolio, and sits out automated orders and the property market. Buy PlayIndex to unlock unlimited levels, unlimited holdings, the main leagues and The City: all your demo progress carries over.

PlayIndex is a simulation. In-game credits, shares and portfolios are fictional, have no real-world value, cannot be bought with real money, and cannot be cashed out.
