What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Market at Moonfall already has its core day-and-night gameplay loop in place, but Early Access allows us to improve and expand the game alongside the players.
The game combines seller interviews, market building, economy management, relationships, defenses, and nighttime combat. Because these systems affect one another, player feedback is especially valuable for identifying balance issues, confusing mechanics, pacing problems, and strategies that may be stronger or weaker than intended.

During Early Access, we plan to refine onboarding, improve combat and market management, deepen seller personalities and relationships, expand encounters and replayability, and continue polishing the interface, visuals, audio, and overall game feel.
We want the final version of Market at Moonfall to be shaped by real play rather than assumptions. Early Access allows us to see how different players build their markets, evaluate sellers, prepare for the night, and interact with the game’s stranger features—including the duck.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Market at Moonfall to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 months. This estimate may change depending on player feedback, development progress, and the amount of additional balancing, content, and polish the game needs. We would rather keep the game in Early Access longer than rush the full release before it is ready.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Market at Moonfall is planned to include the core day-and-night gameplay loop, seller interviews, market building, defenses, progression, and the main campaign structure. For the full version, we plan to expand and refine the game in several areas. This may include deeper seller personalities and relationships, additional events and night conditions, more replayability options, improved onboarding, broader controller and accessibility support, expanded progression, and further visual, audio, interface, and combat polish. We also plan to use Early Access feedback to improve balance, pacing, difficulty, and the way the game’s systems interact. The exact scope may change during development as we learn which features players enjoy most and which areas need the most attention.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version of Market at Moonfall contains the complete core gameplay loop: interviewing merchants, building and decorating the market, managing income and Trust, preparing defenses, and fighting the creatures attracted to the market after dark. Players can currently recruit a varied roster of sellers, upgrade their character and equipment, construct defensive structures, complete objectives and seller requests, develop relationships between merchants, and progress through a multi-day campaign with increasingly dangerous nights. The game also includes save slots, a Codex, market customization, multiple enemy types, progression systems, and the daytime town duck. The game is playable from the beginning of a campaign through its current ending, but some areas are still being expanded and polished. Players may encounter balance issues, rough interface elements, limited controller support, visual inconsistencies, or occasional bugs while development continues. Early Access updates are planned to focus on stability, onboarding, seller depth, combat variety, replayability, accessibility, presentation, and overall polish.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to keep the game at a lower price during Early Access to reflect its unfinished state. As Market at Moonfall receives additional content, features, and polish, the price may gradually increase. We plan to provide advance notice before any price changes. Regional pricing will continue to be handled through Steam’s supported currencies and pricing system.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community through Steam discussions, player feedback, bug reports, and playtesting throughout Early Access. Feedback will be especially helpful for improving balance, onboarding, combat difficulty, seller choices, market progression, interface clarity, and replayability. We also plan to pay close attention to how players build their markets, which systems they use most, where they become confused, and which strategies feel too strong or too limited. Community reports will help us prioritize fixes and quality-of-life improvements, while broader feedback may influence future content and feature decisions. We plan to share development updates, patch notes, and information about major changes so players can follow the game’s progress and understand how feedback is being used.

About This Game

About This Game

Market at Moonfall is a medieval fantasy market-management game where every merchant you welcome brings new opportunities—and potentially new dangers.

By day, you interview unusual sellers, review their goods, weigh their risks, and decide who deserves a place in your growing market. A friendly baker might bring steady income and earn the town’s trust, while a mysterious relic dealer could offer greater profits at the cost of attracting something far less welcome after sunset.

Once you have chosen your merchants, the market is yours to shape. Place and upgrade stalls, build paths, add decorations, improve your equipment, and prepare defenses before night arrives. Your layout matters. A poorly protected seller can become an easy target, while a carefully planned market can survive even the most dangerous attacks.

When darkness falls, the consequences of your daytime decisions come looking for you.

Fight alongside your defenses as monsters enter the market, target your merchants, damage stalls, steal gold, and threaten everything you have built. Repair the damage, collect your earnings, strengthen your character, and prepare to make even harder choices the following day.

Your sellers are more than sources of income. They have different personalities, traits, relationships, loyalties, requests, and rivalries. Supporting the right merchants can create powerful combinations, but ignoring their needs may cause tension—or convince them to leave your market entirely.

Build Your Own Market

Arrange stalls, roads, lighting, decorations, and defensive structures to create a market that is both profitable and capable of surviving the night.

Choose Who You Trust

Interview a rotating selection of merchants and investigate their paperwork, rumors, behavior, and merchandise. You can review every applicant before making your decision, but choosing nobody will damage the town’s confidence in your leadership.

Defend Your Decisions

Different sellers attract different threats. Prepare for charging beasts, thieves, ranged attackers, armored monsters, cursed creatures, and larger assaults as the campaign progresses.

Grow Stronger

Upgrade your weapons, armor, health, movement, market operations, defenses, and seller capacity. Earn gold and Renown to shape your playstyle and prepare for increasingly dangerous nights.

Manage a Living Roster

Complete seller requests, improve loyalty, discover rivalries, form beneficial partnerships, and decide which merchants are worth protecting when space becomes limited.

Talk to the Duck

A duck wanders the market during the day.

Sometimes it says something kind.

Sometimes it knows things it should not know.

Talking to it is optional.

Probably.

Build a market worth visiting. Protect it from what follows. Decide how much danger you are willing to invite through the gates—and whether the extra profit was really worth it.
