What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Esperitz Quest already has its core loop in place: trainer creation, overworld travel, turn-based battles, captures, dungeons, contracts, adventures, achievements, Legacy Points, and difficulty modifiers. Early Access is the right next step because the game needs real player feedback on balance, onboarding, clarity, encounter pacing, save safety, and which systems should be expanded first.

The goal is to grow the game with players while keeping the current build honest about what it already contains.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current target is at least 12 months, but that may change depending on feedback, save-system work, content production, and how much polish is needed before 1.0.

I would rather keep the date flexible than promise a full-release window before the Early Access build has been tested by more players.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to have more adventure content, deeper onboarding, better UI clarity, improved balance, more polished dungeon and structure presentation, a broader esperitz roster, stronger progression pacing, and more complete late-run goals.

The exact order of updates will depend on player feedback. The current priority is to make the existing loop clearer, fairer, and more stable before adding large new systems.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build is playable on Windows and includes the main run loop: create a trainer, choose a class and starter, explore the overworld, encounter and capture esperitz, fight trainers, enter dungeons, visit structures, complete contracts and adventure events, earn achievements, and spend Legacy Points on future runs.

The game currently includes 151 esperitz entries, a large move catalog, multiple biomes, procedural travel, save slots, difficulty modifiers, camp and stronghold systems, and campaign-style adventure files.

It is not content-complete. Balance, tutorial coverage, UI polish, late-game pacing, and some terminology are still being improved.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access price is planned around the value of the current build. The price may increase later as the game gains more content and polish, but no exact 1.0 price or date is being promised yet.

Any future price changes will be announced clearly before they happen.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback will guide balance, onboarding, bug fixes, UI clarity, and content priorities. The most useful reports are specific: game version, trainer class, rough level, what you were doing, whether the issue happened after loading a save, and screenshots when useful.

Development updates and patch notes will focus on what changed, known issues, save compatibility, and what is being worked on next.”

About This Game

Esperitz Quest is a creature-taming dungeon RPG built around dangerous travel, class restrictions, old-school dice checks, and a world that keeps pushing back.

Create a trainer, roll your stats, choose a class, select a starter, and head into a hostile overworld of roads, wild esperitz, towns, infirmaries, stores, guildhalls, shrines, ruins, outposts, dungeons, contracts, and campaign-style adventure events. Your class changes what kinds of esperitz you can command. Your supplies matter. Your luck matters. Your team can survive, fall, recover, or be reshaped by the journey.

Combat is turn-based and resource-driven. Capture wild esperitz, train them, manage their moves, use items carefully, and take on trainers and dangerous dungeon encounters. Between runs, achievements and Legacy Points unlock optional bonuses and harsher challenge modifiers for players who want a rougher road.

This is an Early Access game. The current version is playable, but not content-complete. Expect balance changes, UI improvements, new encounters, more adventure material, and occasional save-impacting updates while the game grows.

Current Early Access Build Includes

  • Trainer creation with stat rolling, class requirements, alignment, and starter selection.

  • 151 local esperitz entries with types, moves, evolution data, discovery tracking, and the Livre des Esperitz.

  • 480 move entries across 19 creature types.

  • Turn-based battles against wild esperitz, trainers, and harder structure encounters.

  • Capture rules, class command limits, consumable items, supplies, money, healing, and travel tools.

  • A procedural overworld with plains, forests, caves, swamps, shores, mountains, and cities.

  • Town structures including infirmaries, stores, guildhalls, shrines, ruins, outposts, dungeons, and sanctum-style boss encounters.

  • 13 campaign-style adventure files with NPC scenes, checks, rewards, and consequences.

  • Camp and stronghold systems, contracts, achievements, Legacy Points, difficulty multipliers, run bonuses, and run penalties.

  • Original music, trainer art, class tokens, UI art, structure models, writing, and sound.

Recommended For Players Who Like

  • Creature collecting with stricter RPG constraints.

  • Dungeon crawling and map exploration.

  • Old-school stat rolls and dice-check pressure.

  • Single-player progression with replayable runs.

  • Games that are deliberately rougher, stranger, and more systems-heavy than cozy.

Early Access Warning

Do not buy Esperitz Quest only for promised future features. Buy it if the current playable build sounds interesting and you want to follow development as it expands.

Saves are intended to remain compatible when possible, but Early Access updates may require migration work or, in rare cases, a new run. When an update risks saves, that will be called out in the patch notes.

Generative AI tools were used to assist in creating certain pre-rendered 2D assets, including achievement icons. These assets are static, were manually reviewed and edited before inclusion, and do not involve any live generation during gameplay.
