What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core gameplay of Lingqueji is already playable, but we still want to use feedback from real players to refine stage difficulty, yaku multipliers, character balance, boss mechanics, shop builds, and meta-progression.
Early Access allows players to experience the core systems, including drawing paths through a 7×5 mahjong board, yaku scoring, character skills, buffs, enchantments, shops, and boss challenges. It also allows the community to help us identify which systems need clearer tutorials, better balance, or additional strategic depth.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last approximately 6 to 12 months.
The exact duration will depend on player feedback, the completion of the Steam landscape layout, performance optimization, keyboard and mouse controls, balance adjustments, and additional content. We do not want to rush the full release before the core experience is stable and complete.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will expand upon the Early Access foundation with:
1、A more complete Steam landscape interface, keyboard and mouse controls, and PC performance optimization.
2、More story content, in-hall commissions, and character side stories.
3、Additional high-difficulty challenges and replay-focused content.
4、More characters, bosses, themed events, and special game modes.
5、Expanded mahjong hall upgrades, Legacy Hand Charts, Hall Relics, achievements, and collection systems.
6、More cosmetic content and improved visual effects.
7、Continued balance improvements to yaku, buffs, enchantments, shops, and the economy.
The core gameplay and progression framework established during Early Access will remain the foundation of the full release.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already contains the core playable loop.
Players can choose a character, enter a run, draw paths through a 7×5 mahjong board to create sequences, triplets, pairs, and other yaku, earn score, purchase buffs, enchantments, and items, challenge bosses, and progress through multiple stages.
The planned Early Access content includes:
1、10 stages with 4 rounds per stage.
2、Three independent board refreshes and path attempts per round.
3、Character decks, active skills, passive skills, and character-specific items.
4、H, S, and Y yaku categories, including True Yakuman.
5、Buffs, enchantments, items, shops, and boss special tiles.
10 stage bosses.
6、Mahjong hall upgrades, Legacy Hand Charts, achievements, daily challenges, and collection systems.
7、Four initially available characters: Lu Xiaoman, Lin Qinglan, Xu Sanniang, and Aze.
The Steam version is still being refined in terms of landscape assets, PC controls, performance, balance, and visual presentation. Some story content, character side stories, high-difficulty challenges, and collection features will be added during later updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually increase the price as new content and features are rolled out.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will collect feedback through the Steam Community Hub, discussion boards, announcements, surveys, and update reports.
We will pay particular attention to:
1、The balance of yaku, buffs, enchantments, and characters.
2、Whether boss mechanics are clear and challenging.
3、The pacing and length of a full run.
4、The depth of shop builds and meta-progression.
5、The clarity of the tutorial.
6、Keyboard and mouse controls, interface layout, and performance.
7、Which characters, bosses, story content, and challenges the community wants to see next.
We will regularly summarize community feedback and explain the reasons behind major balance and design changes.”

About This Game

Lingqueji is a Chinese-style strategy roguelite that combines mahjong hand-building, path-drawing puzzles, score chasing, and buildcrafting.

Take over a long-forgotten mahjong hall and find your own route across an ever-changing table. Connect tiles, complete scoring patterns, stack multipliers, and break the target score within a limited number of moves while facing rivals who constantly rewrite the rules.

This is not a traditional four-player mahjong game. There are no long waits between turns—every decision revolves around routes, hands, positioning, and your evolving build.

Trace Your Own Route

Each move presents a freshly laid 7x5 board. Connect adjacent mahjong tiles and plan your route from any direction.

Sequences, triplets, pairs, quads, and special scoring patterns all contribute different base scores and multipliers. Selecting more tiles is not always better: the spaces you cross, the hands you complete, and the enchantments and upgrades you trigger all shape the final result.

Each standard round gives you only three tracing attempts. Secure the target score—or risk everything in pursuit of a stronger hand and a True Yakuman.

Build Around Your Favorite Hands

Choose characters with distinct tile-pool tendencies and abilities. Acquire passive upgrades, purchase emergency items, and bind enchantments to specific spaces on the board.

Enchantments remain fixed even when the tiles are replaced, turning the route itself into part of your build. Strengthen sequences, triplets, pairs, specific suits, economy effects, positional triggers, or high-risk multipliers.

Face Rivals Who Rewrite the Rules

Every stage ends with a special rival encounter.

They may raise the target score, freeze or conceal spaces, restrict your route, inject special tiles, or change how the entire board is generated. Raw scoring power alone will not carry you to the end—study their rules, adapt your build, and keep the right tools in reserve.

Chase the True Yakuman

A real-time preview shows the hands, multipliers, and estimated score created by your current route, helping newcomers learn the system as they play.

Begin with simple sequences and triplets, then discover increasingly complex patterns and build interactions. When the strict conditions are finally fulfilled, the table will celebrate your True Yakuman with a unique presentation.

Bring the Old Hall Back to Life

Use the rewards earned from each run to renovate the mahjong hall, restore inherited manuscripts, and unlock new characters and collections.

Dusty tables, a silent counter, and sealed records will gradually return to life. The hall is more than a menu—it is a lasting record of every challenge you have overcome.
