About This Game

Build the portfolio. Survive the panic. Decide who gets protected.

Market Panic is a single-player finance roguelite about running an investment firm through a decade of fake market chaos.

Each run plays out across a 10-year quarterly mandate. You allocate capital, queue trades, manage cash, bonds, public markets, private equity, hedges, research, leverage, client demands, and rival firms. Then the market hits back.

An oil shock. A bank run. A political scandal. A currency crisis. A suspicious AI bubble. A sovereign bankruptcy rumor that suddenly does not feel theoretical anymore.

You do not need real finance knowledge to play. The drama is readable: risk goes up, clients lose patience, rivals exploit your weakness, and “safe” assets stop feeling safe when the wrong crisis arrives.

A Roguelite Market Run

Every mandate rolls a fresh market tape. Events, anomalies, clients, rival behavior, private deals, and crisis timing change from run to run. You are not solving a spreadsheet. You are surviving a financial thriller with imperfect information.

  • Play through a 10-year simulated market, divided into quarterly decisions.

  • Queue trades before confirming the quarter-end allocation.

  • Balance return, liquidity, conduct risk, leverage, and client trust.

  • Invest across cash, bonds, public markets, hedges, and private equity.

  • Use research cards to reveal threats, exploit opportunities, or bend the rules.

  • React to crisis events where preparation can turn disaster into opportunity.

No Asset Is Truly Safe

Cash can be hurt by inflation and currency pressure. Bonds can break under rate shocks or sovereign panic. Equities can melt down in scandals, bubbles, and liquidity runs. Private equity can create worker unrest, client backlash, bankruptcy risk, and ugly committee meetings.

Some assets are safer than others. None are sacred.

Clients Are Not Just Numbers

Your clients have mandates, personalities, trust levels, and conflicts. Some clients dislike each other. Some demand safety. Some want growth. Some care deeply about ethics. Some care until their returns are bad.

As your firm survives longer, better clients may approach you, but your roster has limits. Taking one mandate can mean losing another.

Compete Against Rival Firms

Other firms are not decoration. Rivals hold real portfolios, change positioning over time, respond to market regimes, and climb or fall on the league table. Inspect their books, read their moves, and decide whether to follow, fade, or ignore them.

Finance As Drama

Market Panic is about the uncomfortable choices behind survival.

Do you protect clients or protect the firm?

Do you take the ethical route when the greedy one works better?

Do you buy the panic, hedge the panic, or become the panic?

The market does not care. Your clients do.
