About This Game

The Veil fell over the world generations ago, and with it went the light, the maps, and the memory of what lay beyond the next ridge. Erevael is a fantasy RPG about pushing that dark back — one region, one lifetime at a time. How you do it is up to you.

Play your way

Explorer, merchant, diplomat, mage, fighter — Erevael never locks you into a class. Chase the pursuits that suit you, lean hard into the ones you love, and let the rest go. Two players can cross the same world and walk away with completely different games.

Live a life. Then live another.

Make a name, build a home, pick fights worth picking. When you grow old or fall, your story doesn't end — you carry on as your heir, passing on your hard-won skills, the same maps, and the standing you earned. Every generation pushes a little further into the dark. Want it brutal? Switch on permadeath and play for keeps.

Get your hands dirty

Every craft is a minigame. Chop and stir and ride the heat of the cooking pot. Balance volatile reagents before they blow up in your face. Chain runes to augment your equipment. Cast a line and feel for the bite. Do it well and it shows — a master's work looks nothing like a beginner's.

Light the map

Each player's world is different, and the Veil keeps most of it hidden. Push into the dark, reveal what's out there, and inherit the half-finished maps of everyone who came before you. Sell what you've charted to those who need it — or keep the best routes to yourself.

Make your fortune (or your enemies)

Haggle in crowded markets, run goods down dangerous roads, and outmaneuver rival powers who'd rather you stayed broke. The Motes still stir where the Veil's hold is thin — learn to bend them, and magic is yours. Play as one of four distinct peoples, each with its own footing in a darkened world.

Built to be modded

Erevael is designed mod-first. Art, audio, and individual systems are made to be swapped, extended, and rebuilt, so the community can shape the world right alongside me. The game you launch with is a starting point, not a ceiling.

A note from the developer

Erevael is the work of one person, and I'm building it for the long haul.

I lean on AI as a force multiplier: it lets me move quickly, fix issues the day they appear, and keep adding content at a pace I couldn't reach alone. The AI-generated art you see at launch is scaffolding, not the finish line. If Erevael finds an audience, my plan is to bring human artists on to replace it, ship that work to everyone as a free update and the new default, and keep the original art available as an optional mod for anyone who prefers it.

Erevael is made by a solo developer who uses generative AI as part of the development process. The following player-facing content is created with AI and reviewed by the developer before release:

- Visual art, including assets used in the procedurally generated world.
- Localization: translations are machine-generated and have not yet been professionally reviewed.

Music and sound effects are sourced from licensed, human-made libraries and are not AI-generated. AI coding assistants are also used during development.
