What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Card Knight is a hand-built, content-driven RPG, and the best version of it is one shaped with its players. Releasing in Early Access lets the people who love this genre help steer card balance, difficulty, and which corners of the world we build next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're targeting roughly 9–12 months in Early Access, expanding the world, card pool, and story chapters before the 1.0 launch.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to develop Card Knight into a full-scale RPG experience, with a charming, world-spanning story, heartwarming moments, rich environments, and challenging battles.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“A complete, playable opening arc: multiple regions, towns, and dungeons; real-time card combat with deckbuilding, armor, and cardstock; voiced NPCs; and signature boss fights. A full, vertical-slice, satisfying start to Act I of the journey.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price gradually as content is added to early-access and the game reaches milestones toward official release”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We pledge to listen to your feedback regarding the development of Card Knight! Early Access players will be invited to join our Discord Server where we will post regular updates and listen/respond to feedback from our playtesters.

We want to make a game that is fun to play for our audience; primarily the underserved community of Megaman: Battle Network enthusiasts!”

About This Game

"Long before the roads had names, the world was kept whole by a deck of seventy-two celestial cards — the Astral Arcana. Each was not a spell, but a law: one for fire, one for the rain, one for the very angle of the dawn."

Those cards were carried by the Card Knights — wandering keepers who mended looping roads, calmed unseasonal storms, and kept the sky, as they said, properly shuffled. But an age turned. The order scattered. The cards became trinkets and games, and the world forgot it had ever needed guarding.

Now the stars hang in the wrong places. Roads fold back on themselves. And from the cracked shrines spill the Misdeals — cards dealt wrong, with no Knight left to bind them.

You are Oden: not a chosen hero, just a teenage courier from the village of Cardhollow who knows every road between the towns. Today you carry one ordinary package west down the Briar Road — until it bursts open and a sealed deck of ancient cards answers to your hand alone. The world is waiting for a new Card Knight. Ready or not, that's you now.

⚔️ Real-time card combat

Battles play out live on an duel grid inspired by the Megaman: Battle Network. Dodge between rows to slip enemy fire, advance into their territory, and read the field while the action never stops. Pull up the LET'S GO custom gauge to draw a fresh hand, queue your cards by their letter codes, and unleash the whole sequence in one blistering chain. Line up the right cards in the right order to trigger Arcane Reflexes— signature combos like the holy Grand Cross, the field-freezing Absolute Zero, or Ignaeon, which summons the Astral Phoenix in a full-screen cinematic.

🃏 Build the deck that fits you

Collect and brew from 50+ unique cards across seven elements — Fire, Ice, Lightning, Earth, Wind, Light, and Dark — plus the Arms school of swords, bows, and lances. Carry three decks at once and swap your whole strategy before a fight. Crack elemental panels, claim enemy lanes, knock foes off their footing, then back it all up with healing, shields, and status afflictions. Tune your loadout further with stat-shifting armor and elemental cardstock that imbues your basic shots — and drop into the Dojo's Deck Case to test pre-built decks for every element.

🗺️ A handcrafted HD-2D world that remembers you

Wander from the quiet shrines of Cardhollow to the storm-lashed harbor of Stormcrest, across the magnetized iron dunes of the Rustmarch, and down into the Deep Vein beneath a living mountain. Every tile is placed by hand in lush HD-2D, and every town is full of voiced characters with opinions — a foreman who governs his mine by a 61-rule List, signal-keepers who read lightning like a card spread, and a unionized slime that will absolutely file a grievance.

✨ Cards are laws — and someone is dealing them wrong

Beneath the charm, the sky is broken. A new blank constellation hangs in the north, and a corrector is gathering the Astral Arcana to reshuffle reality into a "cleaner" world — one without loss, without cruelty, without the parts they'd rather erase. They are not entirely wrong that the world hurts. They are very wrong about the fix.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

In order to realize my childhood dream of building this game, I have leveraged AI in every step of the development process, augmenting my capabilities as an engineer and visual designer by having AI generate some of the sprites, music, sound effects, voices, and code used to build this game.

I pledge that if Card Knight: Astral Arcana is successful, the sequel title will be brought to life by a team of human artists, composers, and programmers.
