Master the Rhythm of Death

Combat is turn-locked, but execution is real-time. Take your offense turn, weather the enemy’s assault, and defend. Every action is a precise quick-time event: a marker sweeps across a bar.

  • Hit the Success Zone: Your action connects.

  • Hit the PERFECT Band: You unlock the real power—massive damage crits, preserved streaks, and free turns.

There is no attack-speed stat to cheese and no throughput to optimize. Winning comes down to reading the timing better than the machine trying to kill you. Build up your class Ultimate to break the turn rhythm entirely, unleashing a reactive burst that rewards raw execution.

Choose Your Framework

Pick from a roster of distinct classes that fundamentally change how a run plays out:

  • The Glass Cannon: Trade half your health pool for a tripled attack.

  • The Masochist: Gain catastrophic power the more debuffs and drawbacks you stack.

  • The Juggernaut: Convert incoming kinetic damage directly into personal shielding.

Draft Your Cyberware

Between combat waves, draft lethal cyberware modules from a shifting deck. Build around what the QTE system rewards: wider success windows, tighter perfect bands, streak scaling, or raw sustain. Lower-rarity pieces hit well above their weight class—if you're willing to eat their nasty downsides.

The Radial Skill Tree

Earn Cores to fund a massive, radial skill tree that fans out from a central node. Small stat nodes sit close to the center, leading out to game-changing Notables, and paradigm-shifting Keystones at the absolute edges.

The catch? The tree is not permanent. It resets every reboot, allowing you to completely re-forge your build path on every single descent.

Sectors, Bosses, and Stolen Powers

Fight your way through brutal sectors, each driven by its own track of cold, heavy phonk. Every tier culminates in a boss with a signature mechanic designed to break you—freezing your reaction windows, flipping your inputs, or dragging you into a psychological tug-of-war. Kill the boss, steal its signature, and use it as your own.

Reboot. Adapt. Repeat.

Beating the game is just the baseline framework. Once you successfully conquer a full descent, you unlock the ability to Reboot. This ultimate prestige wipe clears your current cyberware and skill tree, plunging you into a significantly harsher version of the sectors with lethal, evolving enemy behaviors (regenerating shields, low-HP frenzies, and active healing).

In exchange for wiping your temporary progress, you permanently bank rewards to carry forward into the next, harder cycle:

  • The Tarot Deck: A pixel-art prestige card system layered over the endgame.

  • Permanent Buffs & Drawbacks: A custom portfolio re-selected each run.

  • Boss Signatures: Equipped directly into your build.

  • Mutually-Exclusive Identities: Meta-progression frameworks that reshape the core loop.

The climb is capped, so a deeper sector never outruns what you've banked. How many Reboots can your system handle?

Retro-Futuristic Violence

Run inside a simulated CRT terminal packed with heavy scanlines, chromatic aberration, violent screen-shake on crits, and explosive particle effects. Powered by a dark cyberpunk phonk soundtrack built on dry 808 cowbells, the music dynamically shifts to match the aggression of the zone.

RoguePunk is an independent project, and its visual and audio content including pixel-art characters, enemies, environments, music, and sound effects was created with the help of generative AI tools, then selected, arranged, edited, and integrated by hand to fit the game's world and feel.


I see these tools the way earlier developers saw new engines, samplers, and digital art software: as a way for solo developers to bring an ambitious, fully-realized world to players who might otherwise never get to see it.
