What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“There are two main reasons for launching the game in Early Access.
First, this title is independently developed by a single creator. All core gameplay frameworks have been fully completed, alongside a clear and comprehensive long-term update roadmap. After entering Early Access, I will keep expanding multi-language localization, optimize performance, fix bugs, and enrich game content continuously.
Second, the game combines base construction, resource management and multi-layer tower defense. Balancing details such as resource output, enemy power and building stats cannot be fully polished through solo internal testing alone. Early Access allows me to gather authentic feedback from global players to adjust gameplay, fine-tune balance values, and develop new features the community requests. It also builds an early core player community, letting participants take part in the whole polishing and iteration process of the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Taking development workload, player feedback and planned new content into consideration, the Early Access period will roughly last 8 to 12 months. I will regularly publish development logs and roadmaps in the Steam community to share all development milestones and update progress.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already features a fully playable core gameplay loop: players can experience resource gathering, free construction of frontier fortresses, multi-layered defense systems, and wave-based enemy combat without issues.
For the full release, we plan to add a large amount of extra content and practical features.
In terms of new content, we aim to introduce more frontier maps with distinct biomes, brand-new siege defense equipment, unique soldier and mage units, more enemy variants, and challenging endgame modes.
On the functional side, we plan to refine UI interactions, expand multilingual translations, add advanced building customization options, optimize performance across all devices, and implement more convenient automation features for resource production.
Our overall goal is to deliver a fuller, smoother, better-balanced full version, though we cannot guarantee all planned additions will launch alongside the 1.0 update.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access build delivers a fully functional core gameplay experience. Players can gather two primary resources: wood and ore, construct all essential production buildings, barracks, markets and hospitals, design multi-layered defensive works including walls and traps, and train four combat units: warriors, archers, mages and priests to fend off escalating waves of goblin attackers.
The game features one playable frontier map, with all core combat mechanics and basic multi-language localization fully implemented. There remain minor known bugs, unbalanced stats and insufficient visual details, all areas we plan to polish and improve through future updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to adjust the game’s price gradually as we roll out continuous updates with new content and features. Once the game leaves Early Access and launches its full version, the overall price will be slightly higher than the initial Early Access price. Prices will be displayed in the local currency for different regions accordingly.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The creator will rely on the Steam Community forums as the primary long-term communication channel. We plan to release weekly development reports and patch notes regularly to gather bug reports, balance adjustment suggestions and requests for new content submitted by players. We will hold community polls to collect public opinions regarding major new features and gameplay changes. In addition, we will keep reviewing player guides, reviews and feedback, incorporate highly requested reasonable suggestions into future development plans, and continuously share adjustment plans and development ideas with the community.”

About This Game

FrontierLord – Frontier Lord

A medieval pixel strategy game combining base management, resource economy and hardcore tower defense. Step into the shoes of a lord on a remote frontier. Build fortifications from scratch on desolate, uninhabited wildlands, fend off endless raiding invaders, and protect your entire territory through town development and tactical planning.

🏗️ Build Your Border Stronghold From Scratch

You start with only a simple camp and full freedom to design your border town layout. Gather two core resources: wood and ore, then construct production buildings including lumber huts, miner lodges, gatherer cabins and residential houses. Gradually erect barracks, marketplaces and hospitals to create a self-sufficient, peaceful and prosperous frontier settlement.

⚔️ Set Up Multi-Layered Defensive Networks

Place a wide range of defensive emplacements flexibly: catapults, ballistae, spike traps and explosive barrels to form layered blocking lines covering short and long ranges. Train infantry, archers and mages to hold back overwhelming waves of enemy attackers.

📊 Balance Town Development and Combat Defense

Resource allocation stands at the heart of your strategic choices: will you spend supplies expanding town infrastructure, or stockpile weapons and gear to reinforce your defenses? Every enemy wave grows deadlier over time. Stockpile supplies, expand barracks and thicken your city walls ahead of attacks to avoid total collapse from resource shortages.

✨ Core Game Features

Dual-core gameplay loop: cyclic resource management paired with real-time wave-based defense, blending relaxed construction and intense tower defense battles

Fully free stronghold layout with no rigid building templates – all tactical strategies are entirely up to you

Escalating enemy attack strength leads to large-scale late-game siege battles for incredibly rewarding victories

Streamlined, lightweight controls with no complicated micro-management, accessible to casual players and hardcore strategy fans alike

Survive and thrive on a dangerous frontier, forge an impenetrable border fortress, and write your own legendary saga of frontier defense.
