What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“COLONIZED is a space survival MMORPG set in a real-scale star system: four Earth-sized planets, ten moons and a captured asteroid that share one persistent universe on dedicated servers. A game built like this only proves itself with real players on real servers. We want them with us as early as possible: to load-test the servers, to balance survival, missions and ships, and to learn what matters most to them while the game can still change course around what they tell us.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently estimate around two years from the start of Early Access. That is an estimate, not a promise: the real length will depend on what we learn from players and on how the servers behave at full scale. We will keep everyone informed through Steam announcements and the public roadmap on our website.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to grow COLONIZED in the directions the closed alpha and beta point to. Today our plans include:
- Base building on planets and moons.
- A player-driven economy with finite stock and markets between settlers.
- Weather and altitude that change the rules of survival.
- The compis: recovered auxiliary cores that float beside you and learn their trade with you.
- More missions, ships and Guild chains, and more of the Aurin system open to play.
- More server capacity, working towards our design target of 500 players on the same server.
- More languages in the game interface.
Plans can change with what players tell us, and when they change we will say so openly.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“COLONIZED is in active development and is not in Early Access yet. Testing starts with a closed alpha: a free Steam Playtest by invitation, in small waves, on our development server, with the first waves planned for winter 2026-2027. The current build already lets you:
- Drop from orbit to the ground with no loading screens.
- Survive cold, hunger and thirst, gather resources and craft at workstations.
- Meet alien wildlife, with its own behaviour and nests.
- Fight wildlife and other players with sci-fi weapons.
- Walk the capitals Vértice and Raigambre, with residents on their daily routines.
- Take off from a hangar, leave the atmosphere, plot a route on the 3D star map and make quantum jumps.
- Take on missions alone or with other settlers on the same flight.
- Earn standing with the five neutral Guilds.
- Choose between the Zenith and the Nadir and create your settler with a detailed editor.
Expect bugs, ongoing performance work and high hardware requirements while we optimise. Character progress may be reset between test phases; we will always announce a reset in advance.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price gradually as we add content and features during Early Access, so the full release will cost more than Early Access; anyone who buys during Early Access keeps the game with no extra payment for the content added later. The closed alpha runs as a free Steam Playtest for invited testers.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players shape COLONIZED from the first wave:
- A closed alpha in small waves through the Steam Playtest, so we can follow every report closely.
- Our official Discord, with channels for bug reports, suggestions and test announcements.
- A short survey after each wave; its results set the priorities of the next build.
- Our development server first: changes reach testers there before they reach everyone else.
- Development updates and patch notes on Steam, and the public roadmap on our website.”

About This Game

A persistent universe at real scale

COLONIZED is a space survival MMORPG for PC. You drop from orbit to the ground of an Earth-sized planet with no loading screens, survive on what you find and craft, and share the star system with other players.

Four planets, ten moons, one asteroid

  • Real scale: four planets of 6,000 to 6,400 km radius, ten moons of 400 to 1,950 km with their own atmosphere, and Ashkar, a captured 45 km asteroid with no air.
  • Orbit to ground, no cuts: every world has its own gravity, sky, geology and length of day, and every world with air has its own weather.
  • Real nights: the sun moves, moons cross the sky and the night is dark and full of stars.

Your ship, your route

  • From hangar to space: take off, leave the atmosphere and land on another world.
  • 3D star map and quantum jumps: plot the route between bodies and jump.
  • Ships you can walk through.

Surviving is work

  • Cold, hunger and thirst: your settler needs warmth, water and food. Planned: weather and altitude that change the rules.
  • Gather and craft: minerals with their own deposits, materials, tools, weapons and parts at workstations.
  • Alien wildlife: creatures with their own behaviour and their own nests.
  • Combat: sci-fi weapons against wildlife and against other players.

Living cities

Vértice and Raigambre, the capitals of the two factions, are vertical cities with hangars, lifts and residents who follow their routines while you prepare your next run. Markets between settlers are planned.

Two factions, five Guilds

  • Choose between the Zenith and the Nadir before you create your first settler: all your characters will belong to that side.
  • Earn the trust of the five neutral Guilds, whatever your side.
  • Create your settler with a detailed face and body editor.

Technology

  • Unreal Engine 5, with Nanite and Lumen.
  • NVIDIA DLSS (Super Resolution and Frame Generation) and NVIDIA Reflex on supported GeForce RTX cards.
  • Dedicated servers with a design target of 500 players on the same server, sharing one universe. It is a target, not a tested figure: testing starts with fewer slots and grows in waves.
  • Always online: you play on our servers, alone or with other settlers, so an internet connection is required.

Development status

COLONIZED is in active development, with a very solid and ambitious technical foundation, ready for its first testers. Every screenshot and video on this page is captured in-game.
  • Closed alpha: a Steam Playtest by invitation, in small waves, on our development server. The first waves are planned for winter 2026-2027.
  • Closed beta: planned for 2027, with more testers and dedicated servers.
  • Early Access: to be announced, after the closed beta.

The universe

Settlement Year 47. The Flota Aura crossed the void fleeing a dying star and, on reaching the Aurin system, split in two: the Zenith, who want to rise at any cost, and the Nadir, who want to put down roots and endure. Since the Armisticio de Ithera a cold peace has held, and it is starting to crack. Both sides are recruiting again. You arrive with that wave.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Pre-generated content created with generative AI tools and then reviewed, edited and integrated by the team: sound effects and voices (ElevenLabs), the main-menu music track (Suno), 3D models of rocks, mineral deposits, rock formations, mountains and asteroids (Tripo3D) and, with Google Gemini, a few terrain textures and the promotional art of the store page (capsules, library art and backgrounds). In-game text (missions, descriptions and lore) was written with the help of an AI assistant (Claude) under the developer's direction. ElevenLabs, Suno and Tripo3D were used under paid subscriptions with commercial licenses, and Gemini under a Pro subscription. The game does not generate any content with AI while it is running.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Combat with sci-fi weapons against alien creatures and other players, with stylized blood and some strong language; no graphic or sexual content.
