What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Football Boardroom is built around a weekly chairman loop, club finances, transfers, matchdays, and long-term promotion, and we want to tune that loop with real players before we call it finished.

The core game is playable today: you can start a new director career, run a club through a full season, climb (or fall) through a four-tier league pyramid, compete in the cup, and manage your personal wealth alongside the club treasury. Early Access lets us ship that foundation now, watch how people actually play it, and improve balance, clarity, and pacing based on feedback rather than guessing in isolation.

We’re also using Early Access to grow a community around a specific kind of football management game , boardroom decisions and consequences, not touchline tactics, and to prioritise what we build next with the people who care most about it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Football Boardroom to remain in Early Access for roughly 6–12 months, depending on feedback and how much we expand the simulation during that period. We’ll keep the store page and patch notes updated as our plans evolve.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand Football Boardroom beyond its current scope while keeping the same core identity: you run the club from the director’s chair, not the dugout.

Planned additions and improvements include:

- More league content — additional nation pyramids beyond the England pyramid available at launch (Spain, Germany, Italy, and France are already marked as coming soon in-game).
- Deeper side-business play — richer portfolio ventures beyond the current high-level posture system (grow / steady / harvest) for racing, media, tech, and property holdings.
- More director and mogul life content — expanded personal wealth, lifestyle, and long-term career options tied to club success.
Competition and season depth — we plan to broaden the calendar with more meaningful mid-season and end-of-season stakes (e.g. expanded cup/competition structure and clearer long-term career goals).
- Balance, UX, and onboarding — difficulty tuning, clearer tooltips and guidance, UI polish, and quality-of-life improvements driven by player feedback.
- Ongoing content passes — more pre-made clubs, events, news variety, and matchday flavour as the sim matures.

We plan to keep Early Access focused on making the chairman loop feel fair, readable, and addictive, then layer on breadth once the foundation is solid. Specific features and timing may change based on community feedback; nothing above is guaranteed to ship exactly as described.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build is fully playable as a standalone football club management sim. It is not a demo or a vertical slice, you can start a career, play week by week, and run multiple seasons.

What works today:

- New director setup — choose difficulty, director background (origin quiz), league pyramid tier, and a pre-made fictional club or your own custom club.
- Full club management — squad, lineup, academy, transfers (summer and winter windows), manager hiring, tactics, stadium upgrades, sponsors, kit and badge customisation, and fan/commercial systems.
- League and cup — four-tier English pyramid with promotion and relegation, plus a knockout cup competition.
- Live matchdays — follow matches in a live match dock with limited director interventions (e.g. push forward, sit deep, text the manager, demand a substitution).
- Weekly turn simulation — advance one week at a time; finances, contracts, results, and news all resolve on that cadence.
- Director finances — separate personal cash and club treasury; bank access; invest personal money into the club when needed.
- Side business portfolio — purchase and manage abstract side ventures at a strategic level.
- Saves — continue careers across sessions.

What is limited or incomplete at launch:

- Only the England league pyramid is selectable; other nations appear in the wizard as “coming soon.”
- Side businesses are portfolio-level management, not deep standalone sims (and we do not plan to add any depth to these as the main focus is football director).
- Some mogul life and long-term career systems are lighter than we plan for the full release.
- Balance and UI are still being refined; you may encounter rough edges, unclear systems, or numbers that shift in future patches.

We recommend Early Access for players who want to help shape a chairman-style football sim early. If you prefer a finished, content-complete experience, waiting until full release may suit you better.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're not planning on changing the price when we leave early access”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read Steam Discussions and bug reports regularly. That’s the main channel we use to understand what’s working, what’s confusing, and what players want next.

We plan to:

- Fix bugs and balance issues reported by players as a top priority.
- Share update posts when patches ship, explaining what changed and why.
- Use feedback to prioritise. e.g. transfer market feel, matchday pacing, financial balance, UI clarity, and which league/content expansions to tackle first.
- Be transparent about scope. we’ll say clearly when something is planned vs. when it’s live, and we won’t treat wishlist items as promises until they’re actually in the build.

If you play Football Boardroom in Early Access, the most useful feedback is specific: what week you reached, what decision felt wrong, what screen confused you, or what you expected to happen that didn’t. Screenshots and save details help us reproduce issues faster.”

About This Game

Football Boardroom is a football club management sim where you sit in the director’s chair, not on the touchline.

You hire the manager. You set the budget. You negotiate the sponsors, expand the stadium, and decide whether to push for promotion or steady the ship. Matchday plays out live, but your job is boardroom influence, not touchline coaching. Text the manager. Demand a sub. Tell them to push forward or sit deep. Two interventions per match. Use them wisely.

Every week, the club needs a decision. Every season, the league table tells the story.

YOUR ORIGIN. YOUR CLUB.

Start with a director backstory, ex-player investor, city financier, lifelong fan with a windfall, or media operator. Your choices shape starting cash, club reputation, fan loyalty, and how the press sees you.

Choose your nation and starting division, England, Spain, Germany, France, or Greece, each with its own pyramid, cups, and league identity. Italy is on the roadmap. Pick from the County League to the Apex League in England, or the equivalent tiers in your chosen nation. Take over a pre-made club with history and character, or build your own; name, colours, badge, motto, Club DNA, terrace anthem, the lot.

RUN THE CLUB

This is chairman football, not spreadsheet football, but the spreadsheets still bite.

  • Squad & transfers — buy, sell, and negotiate deals through summer and winter windows. Watch release clauses, wage bills, and squad morale.

  • Manager — hire tacticians with distinct styles, formations, and man-management skills. Keep them happy, or pay the severance.

  • Academy — invest in youth intake, develop prospects, and promote the next generation.

  • Stadium & commercial — expand capacity, upgrade facilities, set ticket prices, and land shirt and naming-rights deals.

  • Stadium District — build hotels, shops, offices, and museum space around your ground. Matchday is only part of the business. Watch matchday vs district income split in your treasury.

  • Identity — kit design, merch, branding, and the kind of club fans actually want to follow.

  • Season promises & press heat — lock in chairman goals, survive transfer drama and fan backlash, answer press interviews, and face the season review with your reputation on the line.

Nation-specific pyramids, up to four tiers in England, three in other playable nations, with promotion, relegation, and playoffs where they apply

MATCHDAY FROM THE BOARDROOM

When your team kicks off, follow the action on the live matchday screen, commentary, key moments, and momentum shifts. You’re not the coach on the touchline. Your manager picks the XI and runs the tactical detail day to day. You set board direction, review the squad, and step in with limited live matchday calls when it matters.

You watch, react, and intervene like a director who actually owns the place.

Before kick-off, review the announced XI, atmosphere, and home anthem on big nights.

BEYOND THE CLUB

You arrive with a personal war chest shaped by your backstory, enough to buy your way into the pyramid you want. After that, you live and die by club treasury. Loans when times are tight, side bets when you think you can afford them.

Director Holdings let you back property, media, hospitality, and more through CEO-run ventures. Set each to Expand, Steady, or Take profit. They will not eat your week, but they will help pay the wage bill or wreck it.

WEEKLY TURNS. LONG GAME.

Football Boardroom runs in weekly turns, one decision layer at a time, always moving forward. Difficulty scales starting resources. Easy gives you breathing room. Hard makes every transfer feel like a gamble.

Just football, finance, and the long climb from lower-league obscurity to top-flight pressure.

Build the club.

Back the manager.

Survive the board.

Win the argument in the stands.
