A roguelike deckbuilder in a Mediterranean Italy after the end. Every run reshapes you: flesh mutates, body parts are traded for implants. You don't heal — you trade. Four classes, one journey to the last enclave. No loot boxes, no pay-to-win.

About This Game

You are the last flame in a world of ash.

Italy is over. What remains are gutted basilicas, highways swallowed by olive trees, concrete suburbs eaten by dust. You walk toward the last enclave — and to reach it, you'll have to give up pieces of yourself, one painful choice at a time.

Ultima Cenere is a turn-based roguelike deckbuilder where every run transforms your character. It isn't a game about getting stronger. It's a game about what you're willing to lose to survive.

Every run transforms you

  • Mutations — the ash rewrites your body and reshapes your deck: it adds, removes, upgrades, weakens. It's inflicted, not chosen. You don't fully control who you're becoming.
  • Anatomical trades — the opposite: this one you choose. Give up human parts, receive implants from the ash-smiths. Every graft has a clear bonus and a clear cost. You always decide — and always give something up.

Four ways to refuse to give in

  • The Jackal — lone scavenger. Fast, fragile, bleed and scaling combos.
  • The War Medic — frontline surgeon. Pain, heals, slow detonations. Rewards planning.
  • The Defiled — soldier of tin. Slow tank, embers and plating, nearly unbreakable.
  • The Mutant — exposed to the ash. A deck that mutates as you go, high risk. For those who know what they're doing.

A world with weight

Turn-based combat with drag-and-arrow targeting, cumulative bleed, blocks, dodges, and enemies with unique signature abilities. A map that regenerates every run — fights, elites, events, ambushes, merchants — and the tunnels of the Dead Line between acts. Nothing is free. Every choice leaves a mark.

The ethics of the game

  • No loot boxes.
  • No pay-to-win.
  • No mechanics that punish you for not paying.
Just a game that asks you one thing: how much of yourself are you willing to leave in the ash?

Made by one person

Ultima Cenere is built by a single Italian designer, at night, with AI as a working companion. Every mechanical and narrative choice remains his. It's a small game, made with care, trying to say something about loss.

Wishlist it to know when the ash catches fire.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The game's artwork (capsules, cards, enemies, backgrounds) was generated using generative AI tools (Midjourney, Ludo) during development, then selected, retouched and assembled by hand by the developer. All code, game design, writing, narrative and balancing are entirely human-made. No content is generated at runtime.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Ultima Cenere contains frequent stylized violence and blood, and recurring body-horror themes: the player's character mutates over time and can trade away body parts for cybernetic implants, with depictions of wounds, bleeding and bodily transformation. Combat is turn-based and not graphic, but enemy and card artwork can be grim. There is no sexual content. Recurring themes include death, loss and survival.
