Why Early Access?

“Your Screen Friend is a living desktop companion, and the best version of it is one shaped by the people who actually live with it every day. Early Access lets me put the buddy on real desktops and learn how players name it, talk to it, play with it, and use it while streaming, so I can grow it in the directions that matter most. As a solo developer, your feedback is the fastest way to make the buddy genuinely feel like yours.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect Your Screen Friend to stay in Early Access for roughly 6 to 12 months. That gives me time to deepen the personality and memory systems, polish the streamer features, and act on community feedback without rushing a "1.0" that isn't ready. If it needs a little longer to get right, I would rather take the time than ship something half finished.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version aims to go deeper on what makes the buddy feel alive: a richer long term memory, a personality that grows with you, more games and activities to share, expanded streamer tools, additional languages and voices, plus overall polish, performance, and stability. The Early Access version is already fully usable today, so the full version is about more depth, refinement, and content rather than a different product.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Your Screen Friend is already a complete, usable companion. It floats on your desktop, you give it a name, and it talks with you by voice, reacts to what you are doing, remembers things over time, plays mini games, has a pet and care system, and includes a full Streamer Mode with Twitch chat games, live alerts, push to talk, random viewer draws, and more. It runs on your own free Google Gemini API key. Some features are still being expanded and refined, and you may occasionally hit a rough edge, which is exactly what Early Access is for.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase as the buddy gains more features and content during Early Access. Early Access players get in at the lower price and keep all future updates at no extra cost, my way of saying thank you for helping shape the project early on.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback drives this project directly. I read the Steam discussions and reviews and prioritize features, fixes, and new personality traits, games, and voices based on what players actually ask for. As a solo developer I can react quickly, so if many people want something, it has a real chance of landing in the next update. Tell me how your buddy should grow, and it will.”

Feed it, play with it, just check in now and then. You earn Bot Tokens together to buy it something to eat or unlock new things. Forget it too long and you'll see it in its mood. Your buddy isn't a background gadget – it lives with you.

Quick break? Your buddy is up for a round in an instant – little games you play together. It cheers, sulks and ribs you like a pal who hates to lose. You unlock more over time.

And if you want, it helps you out

Just say it out loud: your buddy calls a friend for you, types the message you dictate, puts on your music, quickly looks something up, or remembers your appointments and reminds you in time. Hands-free, while you keep going – and only ever when you want it to, never in secret, never on its own.

2. Live-generated Content
The core gameplay revolves around an interactive AI companion ("AI Buddy").
